On a different Note: Bandys 2023 schedule is out n its not the toughest schedule in the world in my eyes
I wouldn't fully sleep on st. Stephens they did make playoffs last year. Don't know what they lost in players but coach lowman seems to be making a little progress. Foard yeah same ol same ol. South Caldwell can be tough. Then u have conference and well I'm sure we would all vote to kick west Caldwell out if we could 🤣 but they make a hell of a homecoming game 😂😂

Agreed. I like Mr. Hughes and all he does...but these rankings seem off
Agree. Seems to be a heavy Eastern lean. 7 of the Top 12 in 2A are Eastern teams. History would suggest maybe not. And Reidsville played for the state title last year, had a lot of young players that were significant contributors, and are pre-season #7? I figured they'd be an easy choice for pre-season #1.

Looks like from other posts Flippen may be having academic issues at Reidsville. Once it was mentioned they wanted the subject changed quickly 🤷🏼‍♂️

Quick Q: In today's landscape, what actually constitutes improper recruiting, when it comes to coach contact with athletes at other schools?

Maidens not the reason for my question. Don't sic Willie B on me, lol.

I feel like most conversations happen between kids comes with this generation watching lebron form super teams. And if not that I believe parents make contact with coaches. I would never approach the kid. In the end honestly if that family moves into a said school district. It's all legal and don't matter

I think you're right, if it's a move in transfer. I may be wrong, and old, but when a coach directly promises a kid a position and playing time while he's at another school ..it seems wrong.

I'm not naive to the ways around, however, lol. Kids talk to kids, and people move. And parents indeed go looking for the deals. But coaches oughta stay away from direct contact, imo.

Neither here nor there, really. When kids get their feelings hurt, they're going. I miss the old days.

I know a person who took their son to a game so he could introduce his son to a coach so they can get a feel for each other kind of testing the waters. And I'm not saying this was Maiden. Lol

So, you're saying there's a chance it was Maiden! Lol.

I know a guy who shopped his kid to multiple coaches in one day! The world we live in, I suppose. Nothing new there.

Let’s get Tom Knotts up to Maiden to coach and get it over with lol. They’ll win 7 or 8 state championships in a row and you’ll notice Lincolnton will only have 1 or 2 wins or less NL 1 or 2 wins or less Newton Conover 1 or 2 wins or less Foard with no wins for those 7 or 8 years, would I need to even mention Bandys or Hickory ha ha

That's the same crowd who funds the private schools drawing students from a 30 mile radius. Not to mention their latest bright ideas for education...

I trust that they will serve their own interests, but don't think they care much past that ...

Change my mind.

Please, sir. Don't mention us in the same sentence as the school who skipped the playoffs.

A true private school 30 miles wouldn't matter that school we played 2 years ago Christ's School had kids from all over the country they room and board their kids. I think that would be the true definition of a private school in my head. I will say I don't think charter and peripheral schools are far off from that though

Any parents to keep their kids at North Lincoln to play football this year after what happened last year are asking for disappointment

Real private schools don't bother me.Tho, if I understand the new legislation from Raleigh, well soon be funding them, too.

Our local publicly funded private school is about to start football, I hear. Maiden is well within their reach!

All of our biggest worry locally would be if academy started a football team don't think that's happening though at least anytime soon

@Lincolnton got the next generation started yesterday 😂 first ever youth demolition derby in the south eastern USA. I entered my 12 yr old nephew but all kids had to have a passenger/coach riding with them. First time behind a wheel I coached him to a 3rd place finish out of 18 cars 🤣🤣

I I’m with y’all I didn’t understand it either or support it. Sure it’d been one and done for them in the playoffs cause it’d been Kings Mtn first round but the seniors woulda enjoyed playing a playoff game to end their careers most of which woulda been that game. Mighta been a decent game considering North had the state champs up against the ropes for a quarter and had athletes on that team to compete.

I was just using them in my joke cause they are a border school to Maiden ha ha. Tom Knotts could go coach at Highland Tech and have them winning championships but of course you’d notice every Gaston school and even Lincolnton wouldn’t have much for standout atheltes or good seasons in the process

Serious question, when do transfer requests get approved? Does a kid go practice with his future team right away or have to wait until official approval?

Not directed at any team but curious.

On nchsaa site, it says you have to officially be enrolled into a school in order to participate in practice.
Disenroll from your current school, enroll in your new one. You provide your address, then school officials do a house check to make sure you and your family live where you say you live. As far as I know...there may be other steps idk

AMD, sorry I'm just getting back to you, had some business to take care of. Have to commend you on getting him involved in a contact sport but does his parents know what he was doing ? I'd just about guarantee he enjoyed it.

He will even look forward to going back to school and telling his friends...The only thing about telling it at school is they have counselors now who actually converse with the students. I could imagine a dialogue between him and the guidance counselor, next year: The GC might say, well, your twelve years old, what would you say is most important to you now; and your nephew might answer "Growing a long beard and demolishing cars". At this point the GC wouldn't have anything else to say. The expression of shock on his/her face would say it all.

Postscript: Speaking of counselors, I'm glad they have somebody who is patient enough to talk with them, unlike the one who was there back when I was in school. The only thing he ever did was beat on my backside with a board. He would swing it like a baseball bat. I could feel my eyebrows and nasal hairs tingling it hurt so bad. What a jackass he was, course, I was something of one myself.

After reading your comment I'll let him know that if the guidance counselor suggests there are other sports to play. To just remind the guidance counselor that his sport requires two balls to compete 😂😂😂 LOL he plays football also and baseball
