One Charlotte 4A high school will not field a varsity football team this season
I believe Garinger will be fielding a JV team only. One Charlotte 4A high school will not field a varsity football team this season
This is trueOne team won’t field varsity another team probably 3 deep at every position cause of transfers lol
South Carolina already has several private schools like this that play in the SCHSL and compete against public schools. Tough to match up with these type of teams (not impossible) but tough none the less.Guys here is something you need to think about. How much longer will it take for NC to get an IMG academy in NC or hell every state in the US, to where they take the top 30-40 players in HS football Allow them to get paid sponsors like in college and just play other IGM type schools in the US. That is coming soon my friends. With transfers HS sports has become so much have and have not that it is ripe for this next step to happen
Believe that Combine Academy in Lincolnton is potentially gonna be the closest. They don’t do football yet, but they’re a powerhouse in hoops and baseball I believe. If they expand into football, that’ll probably be the closest we got to an IMG (at least near my area)Guys here is something you need to think about. Garinger should let all their 11th graders play Jv this year …. It’s a shame what CMS has allowed to happen .. Vance and Mallard creek , Myers park have 120+ kids and east meck , garinger and others can barely find kids bc of transfersI believe Garinger will be fielding a JV team only.
NCHSAA should have put the rules on Total Lock down long ago. Now everyone goes running after one high school because of their championship and puts a hurting on Garinger's football program....One Charlotte 4A high school will not field a varsity football team this season
Saw Todd Ellis and Greensboro Page come down and play Garinger in the playoffs at Memorial Stadium around 1985.Has Garinger ever really had a football team?
Garinger has had 4 different Coaches the last 7 years. The new coach is Shon Galloway, who was the DL coach at Mallard Creek. Very sound and efficient coach, with great communication skills. If he can't get them back up and running. I don't know if they will every get back anytime soon. It's happening every where in terms of recruiting. There is a school in Cumberland Co that has been called out by other coaches and no one has done a thing. They literally make posts about players should come play for them. The top player at one of their neighboring schools just jump ship week before the season and this kid is a d1 recruit. In terms of Garinger it starts at the top. If ball is not a priority then this is what you get. The kids suffer who want to play.
From Richmond to Charlotte= That is blamed on economics because parents found a better jobGaringer has had 4 different Coaches the last 7 years. Stop watching Fox news all day. All it will do is make you angryNCHSAA should have put the rules on Total Lock down long ago. Now everyone goes running after one high school because of their championship and puts a hurting on Garinger's football program....
Let me guess....it's an economy issue right? LOL
The parents chose to move because Larry's Air Conditioning Appliance Warehouse is hiring correct? LOL
I blame the NCHSAA for not having their ducks in order - The government is already foolish enough starting at the top - The White House.
Now Garinger has to suffer some cray cray in Charlotte....
News is a thing of the past for me. I do not watch news. I have an APPLE BOX which gives me what I truly want to watch without paying for channels I dont truly watchYea Donny was a

So what is it from Mallard Creek to Julius L. Chamber= Who should ultimately hold the blame?
So once again,Some dont understand the true issues at Garinger. In the mid to late 90s Garinger was bad, but it was coaching bad and neighborhood assignment bad. Shuford had them really good for a while and then he went to Butler when it opened. The opening of Butler, Vance and Waddell really changed the assignment plan in CMS sending Garinger students all the way to Butler, and West Charlotte students to Butler/Indy.
If Garinger pulled truly from the neighborhoods surrounding the school they would have been an athletic powerhouse with Hampshire Hills, Briarwood, Hidden Valley, and Shannon Park. Those athletes went to West Charlotte, and Independence. Once the busing decision took full effect some of those students went to Garinger and you could see Garinger getting better in football and semi competitive. Then the assignments changed again with the opening of Rocky River/Ardrey Kell/Hough/Berry caused another demographic shift, Taking those students away and sending them to Rocky River, Independence, and Butler. Then Garinger got the Central Ave, area, and it was all over for Basketball, and football surprisingly soccer is not good as it could be. CMS punished the older schools trying to appease the suburbs, raise minority test scores, and to stem white flight. East Meck, Garinger, West Charlotte, South Meck, North Meck, Harding, Indy, Olympic and West Meck all lost key assignment zones, and were assigned a disproportionate amount of low performing students, while having the worst facilities in CMS. Garinger has no realistic hope of being able to field a great foot ball team with its assignment zone and demographic make up. The only way is for Tommy Knotts or Palmieri to go there as they will get players there. NO offense to Galloway as he is a good coach! With player movement the way it is in Charlotte, you need a big time proven championship type coach to even have a chance, and that comes with a player influx with the coach.
If you are coaching at any of the older CMS schools you will have more issues than the newer ones but no one talks about that divide.

Believe it or not, Garinger won the very first 4A football championship in NC, in the year the school opened in 1960. Prior to that 3A was the highest classification. They were strong for a few years, and then the tires went flat and the wheels came off.Until the NCHAA nails a huge lid on this recruiting fiasco this is what’s gonna take place. Schools can’t field teams so their money is gonna take a big hit. Super teams being created is not good for high school football.![]()
Never going to happen. Look we all know one political party is big on school choice, charter school and vouchers, and as long as that persists kids will transfer and you will see more of this. So might as well get used to it.Until the NCHAA nails a huge lid on this recruiting fiasco this is what’s gonna take place. Schools can’t field teams so their money is gonna take a big hit. Dwight Clark who made “The Catch” is a Garinger alum. As is former Red Sox manager Grady Little I believe.Believe it or not, Garinger won the very first 4A football championship in NC, in the year the school opened in 1960. It wouldn’t be surprised at all !Soon with NIL i think you will see the top kids sign their LOI before their senior season and then not play. Just train for college to protect themselves and that $$$
Yes, that is correct. In fact, Garinger was a quite formidable team until about the early-to-mid 1990's.Dwight Clark who made “The Catch” is a Garinger alum. As is former Red Sox manager Grady Little I believe.

I am sure you are aware the parents of the Richmond players initiated the move to Charlotte. From Richmond to Charlotte= That is blamed on economics because parents found a better job
From Garinger to the neighboring school= We will blame that on coaches
So what is it from Mallard Creek to Julius L. Chamber= Who should ultimately hold the blame?
To add to this. Garinger was the former Charlotte Central High School. The school moved from what is now CPCC. The original and oldest building at CPCC was Garinger Hall and later renamed Central High Building.Believe it or not, Garinger won the very first 4A football championship in NC, in the year the school opened in 1960. That's what I saidI am sure you are aware the parents of the Richmond players initiated the move to Charlotte.
I am not sure if it was economics. An earlier post was many families move to Charlotte for better and more employment options. No idea if that is the reason they moved. That's what I said
