Also heckuva job by Coach Lewis. From the few articles I've read, he made some adjustments to Clintons alignment on offense moving their backs closer to the line of scrimmage because he felt they would struggled against Andrews d line and thought it would help them get in the hole before Andrews kids could shed blocks. Not a huge adjustment but one they I think helped Clinton get extra yards here or there. Also a smart move to melt the clock down before every snap and control the time of possession. Overall, a masterful job by Lewis. He and staff greatly out coached Andrews staff in this game from start to finish. Coaching beats talent every time in a close ball game like last night.
Let me preface this by saying that nothing here is intended to take away from Clinton or their coaching. Quality program and quality coach. But some times it IS about the players and not the coaches. From what i saw clinton just out manned andrews on both sides of the line. Andrews got no push on O or D. To McKoy's credit, they did make some adjustments and come out in the second half and move the ball. Clinton just shut down the momentum with their drive after the first score, then the missed kick decided the game for good.I am not saying clinton didnt do any coaching, im just saying it was not a grand chess master that won the game.
While you are entitled to your opinion of the man, I can tell you what i have heard from some folks in the building at Andrews now, he is winning INSPITE of what he has around him. From what i am told, Andrews today is nothing like what you must cherish in your glory days.I saw on another forum and in the past you claim that another coach would have gotten multiple state titles where he only got 1. What years? MAYBE 2012?
In the end, the clinton andrews game was a great game to be at. Andrews head coach must either really love these kids or be a glutton for punishment the way he is treated by his community.
