Marquette played losing basketball. Fouling Simpkins 90 feet from the basket. And fouling Parker on a corner three that didn’t have a chance. Gave us the game.

We only had 2 in the 2nd half. He managed it right.
Did anyone see the death stare Sha fired at Whalen when we lost the 1st half challenge? LOL.

And then when the huddle broke he chewing out and screaming at the staff. Lynch looked like a beaten puppy, Whalen just stared ahead like he's heard it a million times, Lowery kept his head down.

I actually didn’t know the assistants could ask for a challenge.

But really his staff — and Whalen — should know better.

I get both sides. I’m sure Holloway could have handled it better, but he probably has PTSD after losing to USC due to not having a challenge that would have been an obvious reversal of call.

i thought they called it off CU and CU challenged. Yup, clearly off dar
It all took place over a media timeout if I’m not mistaken. And I know we don’t have endless resources but I was kinda surprised no one could get their eyes on a replay over those five minutes to make sure it was worthy of a challenge.

I doubt they asked for the challenge. Sha was probably annoyed because they told him he should challenge.

We remembers the story of Bob Hurley sr telling Bobby to walk home after a St Anthony’s practice. He told him “ You don’t deserve to be in my car after the effort to put in for practice”.

After Marquette hit a 3 to go up 10 with around 10 minutes to play and they were juiced, hitting floor, etc. SHU immediately responded with good offense against their zone, Rivera to Hines for a dunk that gave us life.

Then Sha deployed the zone on them and we extended to an 8-0 run over 1:30 including Rivera hitting both FT’s on a 1-and-1 to cut it 60-58. Clark also turned over SHU Killer Ben Gold on the press for a layup.

It ballooned a little from there again but that response was critical.

They were banging the floor all game long. Probably had bone bruises on their hands which clearly played a factor in them not shooting well in the end game. ;)
Lol! Ben Gold also spent so much time on the floor falling down. Both ends. Nutty.

Not sure how we thought it was a challenge we could WIN. It was obviously off Dar
It appears to hit the MU players foot before hitting the floor. Not sure how Refs missed that but ignored the mugging at the other end when Shaka Smart challenged. They clearly raked his arms causing the loose ball. THey had to either call a foul or reverse the call to out on SHU. Not sure how they didn't call the foul.

This isn't accurate. He HAD a challenge but had no time outs so he basiclly forfeited his challenge.

I don’t think they’re allowed to retroactively call the foul. They can only review who the ball went out off of.

Foul calls are only reviewable if it involves a flagrant foul. That is the only instance where a foul can be assessed after the fact.

Challenges/reviews are not used to overrule foul calls so whether Dar was fouled or not doesn't matter at that point.

I sit behind the visitors bench at the rock and I’ve noticed the head coaches usually have someone specifically designated to immediately look at an iPad and advise whether to use the challenge.

Delighted Sha finally showed the zone. It took long enough! We need to use it in the future when circumstances warrant it.

I feel bad for Dar. He's in an impossible situation as he is getting very little time and he can't show what he can do offensively. Defensively he's still a terror but with Rivera now healthy he's the odd man out in the ten player rotation.
