It's getting pretty close.
Flood - four year average - 68.25
Best four year average under Shea - 97.5 - basically this year - Flood's worst - is still better than the AVERAGE for Shea and better than all but one of his five years (assuming that we dont get hot, beat MD by alot and make a bowl and win it - which would likely put us above that.)

But like I said - the main difference is - its not 2000. The foundation Schiano/Mulcahey built is in fact alot more solid. Its why the MOs desperate pleas are embarrassing. We are a mid-level team with a bad coach. Not a BCS team with a D1AA foundation.

Well, yes the average is better, but you have to look a bit at the starting point.

I don't think anyone is really comparing the state of the entire program to the state of the program under Shea, we obviously have more infrastructure and a very solid conference now, it is the results on the field that feel pretty similar. At the end of the day though I understand the concern. There are perennially bad P5 teams and it isn't too hard to imagine a scenario where RU becomes a team that is stuck at the bottom year after year.

The best to fire Flood... Two years ago
The second best time to fire Flood? Now.

Forget all the analysis. It doesn't matter that a lot of coaches got fired. Just go out and pay the $$ and get a good one..waiting just sets the program back further...if Flood is the coach and RU opens 1-3 in 2016, few will show up and the debt will mount...

None of us have crystal ball and none of us will know who's on Ms. Herman's mind. Remember it's not a unilateral decision. She's given parameters by the search committee. She's given a budget by Barchi and the BOT. At the end of the day you could end up Norris Wilson or someone on par with his coaching ability. Rutgers hires coaches like a blind man in the maze.

1. Create a short list of coaches
2. Create a realistic budget (coaches-assistants-coordinators)
3. Present this to Barchi & BOT

If they give you the green light, make your move and hope for the best.

Mostly agree, except you do 2 & 3 first. Once you have that, then you can develop your short list, based on interest in RU given the $ parameters.

Back to the OP -- no it's not worth it to retain him for a year if you are going to fire him then.

Only retain him if you believe that he is your coach of the future or taking the program in the direction you want it to go. Kicking the can down the road is not usually a good strategy.

For what it's worth, JH and her top people have gone underground. Sure you will see them on Saturday but you wont get time with them Mon-Fri right now. That's usually a sign of an impending change.

I've never waited more than, maybe, 12-hours for a response from JH. Going on 2.5 days now.

This will be a test of how much things have evolved
- will it be the same old plodding linear thinking - ponderously moving through the sequence of steps as though it an entirely new language was being learned...
Or, for once,
- will this process be 'managed' - clearly laid out & choreographed - with everybody hitting their marks - knowing their roles and playing them properly (an no stupid upstaging)

Can I interest anyone in an All QB-Draw Offense?
