For myself #1 would have to be the Sooners. And likely 90% as a result of the fact we haven't beaten them in conference YET...also 'honorable' mention to TCU for the Trickett neck stretcher we had to witness and sadly Clint had to endure...although I do like Patterson. Baylor...whatever...yet Briles seems a dick...

Oklahoma and Texas will usually draw the largest crowd of the season to Mountaineer Field.
WVU and TCU came into the Big 12 together so it's interesting to see how they do. The Mountaineers obviously have a lot of catching up to do.

The quality of play is so much better than in the Big East, once Miami, Virginia Tech and Boston College left.

And the money is TRIPLE the best Big East annual payout per school so there's that, too.

I just want to watch my alma mater in Mountaineer Field and on TV. The opposition, if it's in the Power 5, is not as important as seeing WVU play.

Bring on Georgia State! And Liberty! And Maryland!

Then let the reason season begin with the Big 12 Box Canyon situation of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Baylor and TCU -- in a row! Ouch! That should be the longest losing streak of the season.

Ummm... ....no.

There's not a rival yet and it could take 10-20 years before one develops.

-------------

My question would be, "Is there any Big 12 team that considers West Virginia anything more than another conference (football) game?".

Doubtful. ....although Baylor might show us a little special lovin' this year.

Yep....I can see the Bears circling WVU on their sched this year...

On another note....decide on your TCU or Baylor trip this year?

Yes...I'm a bit jealous.

That new Baylor stadium looks great...and from what I hear they've become a bit more liberal with their open alcohol policies while tailgating over the last few years?......

Everyone is the easy answer, but Either Baylor or TCU are the schools I want to beat the most now. The simple reason there is cause they are the best schools in football. For TCU we could be 0-3 as easily as 3-0 based on the bounce of a ball. Baylor could have really embarrassed us in 2013 if Bryles was like Spurrier.

From a mark it down standpoint, OU & KSU cause we're 0-6 vs and its time.

Another interesting question might be who does everyone think we will beat first as conference opponents between the 2 schools who have swept us in the Big 12 so far...Oklahoma or Kansas St?

No decision yet. There's a group of us typically 10-12 strong from around the country (all originally from WV or PA) that have taken a Steelers road trip every season for the last 15 years...and this year Seattle was the choice. Tickets for that game are EXTREMELY expensive (I refuse to fly to any football game and not have good/great seats) plus it's Thxgiving weekend. I challenge anyone to find good seats between the 30's in the lower 2 (of 3) levels for under seven or eight hundred.... ......I've never paid more than five for club seats for any game.

Once I get that trip situated I'll work on the much more economical WVU game.

Baylor and then the bottom dwellers because they see WVU as their best chance at a conference win.

It's hard to hate anyone in the Big 12 considering how respectful their fans are. Pitt is easy to hate because of the way their fans behave and their delusional arrogance.

TCU and Baylor are at the head of the pack. But if you haven't noticed .... most teams most of the time in the B12 get fired up to play us.

I personally do not think we need a sworn annual enemy that we pour extra emotion into hating. The more conference games you win the bigger the next one becomes because its probably going to be against a team that can beat you.

So far the TCU/WVU game has been a dogfight each year. It has been the most competitive series we have in the B12.

Agree on the TCU game. Not real rivalries yet but a few years of us knocking the same team from a playoff spot or conference championship and vice versa is what is gonna make it brew. Gotta really piss them off a few time for the makings of a rivalry

Baylor. Briles is a putz who encourages his kids to take cheap shots at opposing players. He's one of those "If you can't beat 'em, take 'em out for the season." coaches.

On the basketball side? After the Big East, I can't get too excited about any of the Big 12 teams.

I think he was saying just a foe, not someone you dislike. I do agree that from a fanbase standpoint I have had NO NEGATIVE EXPERIENCES. GOOD PEOPLE & great bbq.

I hate Kansas St. I want to beat those guys so badly.

But, I don't ever see a true rivalry while in the big 12.

The only rivalry we have right now in Maryland. I would like to see us play Maryland and Pitt every year.

Texas Longhorns, no doubt. Several reasons; big turnouts both home and away so far, TLN for another, BBall both in and out of conf. But mostly because my wife went to UTA (sho rthorns), and most of her extended friends and family still live in Austin.

Cheers

My initial reaction would be Texas Tech. I think their fans are way over the top. However, I would have to say Kansas State. but unlike Pitt, it's a rivalry out of respect for their program. They are the classic overachievers, the way we used to be. I want to be like them so therefore I want to beat them. They are just tougher and more disciplined than we are. They are like ****** Tech without the snobby attitude.
