Agreed. Its nice to see some of the ultra-wealthy NBA players and other famous people in the industry getting involved with colleges to raise money but don't know why they are calling them GMs. Actual GM roles are needed in today's high D1 programs and they are non-ceremonial positions. They take someone who is going to grind 365 days a year the way a GM of a pro team does.
