Demons or Bluejays?

Wondering who everyone would rather play. Depaul still has to play Butler at home tomorrow. If they win, do they have the tiebreaker over Creighton? I'm assuming that they do, since Creighton isn't locked into 5th, at least as far as I know. I thought I'd never say it, but I'd take Creighton again, Depaul pushed us around twice.

Definitely not Depaul. Creighton is a better matchup for us and they historically dont do great at the Garden. Neither does Depaul for that matter but they beat us there recently in the BET.

I'm with CatholicMan on this one. I believe that the notion that it's difficult to beat a team 3x in a season is a myth. Not taking into account any matchup advantages or disadvantages, I feel like DePaul has our number this year and I don't want any part of them. I lean Creighton.

Depaul has been our nemesis for many years, even though they're never any good.

Creighton has made five championship game appearances since they joined the league. 5 in 11 tournaments. That's TERRIFIC. But you think they don't do great there? LOL.

They never win the championship.

Meanwhile, our program hasn't won a single BET game in four years. That could change Thursday, but let's look inward before we throw stones at others who have been hugely successful at this event.

I would prefer to play DePaul again. Going 0-2 against them is obnoxious.

And the 3PT shot with Creighton always worries me. McDermott has owned Sha, although so does Holtmann right now too, LOL.

And if this is Mac’s swan song that team may kill itself to make a run.

Butler up 23 on DePaul, midway through the second half. It's going to be SH vs. Creighton.

The love DePaul was getting last week on the board was puzzling. Holtmann did a good job with them, but they are not in the class of SHU.

Creighton vs SHU.

I actually hope Creighton cause at least even we lose and I get annoyed with them and can hate them ( F their BS luck GW against us), I still deeply respect a coach like Mcdermott and their program unlike "Bought" Johns.

Depaul just seems to be a terrible matchup and they seem to want to beat us badly and want us to be in their position to total trash as a program. If we were actually bad I wouldn't mind the losses, but being 20-11 and we arguably screwed our season losing to this mid team is frustrating. End of day they got to win each game from now on. Have to win three straight. Tough considering the stakes, pressure, and competition but this isn't 8th seed having to win whole NBA finals over KD/Steph Warriors, but this team doesn't seem to have the discipline to do it.

Not even close.

There's not a metric anywhere that has them close to the Pirates.

Again.

Not a metrics guy, but those numbers can't be ignored. Totally different levels.

Metrics are meaningful but so is your conference record and your head to head record. DePaul is not better than Seton Hall but certainly in the same class.

Creighton doesn’t have an impeccable reputation either.

Lol. You just can't handle the truth and the facts as they are, like many on here.
I just offered my opinion. And Creighton has fallen short in the BET despite having enormous amounts of talent. Context is important. I was not trashing the Bluejays, only stating my preference for the Pirates playing them rather than Depaul in the opening round.

Expecting to have a rational, logical, objective, fact-based discussion of this topic is like trying to discuss the war in Ukraine with Russian-media. If you can avoid the trap, probably best to allow him to discuss this with his therapist.

Your opinion isn't backed up by any facts. Creighton has done very well in the BET overall.

Creighton is dangerous due to their style, shooting and their coach. But DePaul just beat us up twice with their big perimeter guys and Benson down low. I‘ll take our chances with Creighton. It won’t be easy.

Goes without saying that in a normal year, McDermott's offense wouldn't be something I'd like to run into in the BE tournament. This is a different Creighton team though. I probably like this matchup better than Depaul for us, but it is close.

Creighton is better than DePaul so I’ll say DePaul since we can’t get an at large anymore. BET champs or bust.
