Since the meeting is in the Bush student center, does anyone know if the food places are open? I’m guessing there will be no food at the meeting, so I was hoping to grab a slice of pizza right inside the Bush student center.

I doubt anything is open since classes haven't started. I believe the places in the Yard on College Ave are open, Krispy makes a good pizza!

I think the OP is trying to stay on Busch campus, but I just don't think too much is open right now at that time. End of next week will be a different story. If you hit Easton pretty much everything is on regular hours: SYF, Mamoun's, Tacoria, etc. The Yard places are open too, but I don't know if some have summer hours.

What is/was the name of the deli/liquor store right off of River Road that named sandwiches after local businesses? One sandwich was called the Foley Cat. Did it close?

I didn’t know about that. How close was that to the stadium? I remember a River Road Tavern.

It was off of River Road, and the deli was in the back of the liquor store. I remember going there when working fire department shifts back in the 1980s. The sandwiches were fantastic.

The sub shop was Midway on Plainfield Ave. I went there often in the mid 80s when I worked at Hanover Insurance on Centennial Ave. Their subs were awesome.

It's been closed for a long time. It's now a kitchen/bathroom store.

Boom! Midway. What a place!!!!

Google says 22 Plainfield Ave, next to the dry cleaners-- correct address? This review nails it:

"midway has been gone for many years now but had the most amazingly delicious triple decker sandwiches. we would get stuff from the at least once a week. we miss the greatly."

Just to follow up - thanks for the suggestions! We ended up going to Stuff Yer Face. The news about Artichoke pizza is great - I ate at the one in NYC and it was very good. The only downside is that the NYC location did not sell individual slices. Let’s see what the New Brunswick location offers.
