I just want to know what was going on in someone's head when they signed off on it.

It's horrible.

It's even more horrible when they play it at 11:00am.

This isn't New Jersey!

I still don't get the hate for it.... A few of the other game day experiences I've heard may have been warranted, but this one always leaves me scratching my head the most.

I agree completely. We have some ****** things that go on during the game on that board...the DJ is one of the least ****** in my opinion. It's definitely not my "cup of tea" so to speak, but it's far from making me want to blow my head off.

Other experiences Saturday: The cups still smell awful, but the Vienna hot dog I had was not all that bad. The consistency of it was much like a vienna sausage, but the taste was pretty damn good. But I am not a skinny guy, and I was hungry. The 3 guys I was with thought they were good too (they're skinny). The entire experience confirmed to me that we have some people overreacting on this board (shocker, I know). There's definitely some things we can do better, but it's far from the horrible atmosphere of "The Rock" in Hattiesburg like many on here try to make it seem.

I watched that whole video, having not been able to be in Starkville this year. 3 things:

1. If they'd just had the DJ on the sides and kept the main screen filled with action it wouldn't have been so bad. But no one wants to watch that dude hit buttons really fast. It's not inspiring in the least. Could we at least try "For Whom the Bell Tolls"? I know it's been suggested before on here. It'd be great to play for introducing starting line ups. Or if we could film the team making its way to the field from the locker room while it plays.

2. Man we are going to miss this senior class next season.

3. The way our administration has handled the Nick Bell tragedy has been exemplary. It just sucks that he had to go at such a young age but they have really respected his memory and his family. Very proud to be an alum after watching the way in which the school and community has rallied around the Bells these last two years.

A couple of reasons from my point of view......

People have been raving about our pre-game atmosphere up until this year, so this prompted me to look into the differences.

1) It's not really the DJ video itself, it's the lead up to and around it. My examples:

a. Arkansas game 2010, one of the most hyped up games I've seen at Davis Wade. You notice the same sequence that we see this year, except after the band lines up and the cheerleaders do their thing, they go to the cowbell scene and then we run out. I think we even botched the cowbell scene there and ran out too early, but it doesn't matter because their was natural electricity in the stadium.

b. Memphis game 2010, while not the best ever, still seems to generate electricity even for a crappy opponent. I prefer this sequence, and it seems to keep the excitement going. We do the band stuff, we play the cowbell scene, Walken says "I gotta have more cowbell", then Jackie (or somebody else) comes out and says respect the bell, then Walken comes back with the "I've got a fever....", then we run out. That seems to work best.

c. Auburn game 2012, we butcher the cowbell scene. go straight from Walken's gotta have more cowbell to I've got a fever, and you can actually see the cut in the video. Terrible. No respect the bell message from an MSU icon. Not only this, the band does their deal, then they do the MS video, then the True Maroon, then the cheerleaders, then the botched cowbell scene, then the video, then the runout. It's ****.

2) 11 am really kills natural stadium excitement. We've had more of them this year than years past, when the excitement was awesome.

3) Basically, we have to find a better way to integrate the True Maroon and the Mississippi video into it. Perhaps before the band does their magic. And if we aren't going to play the Respect the Bell video, put the True Maroon right there.

Just my thoughts.

I think we have all the pieces for a decent pregame routine, just poor exectutio

-n. Here's my suggestions.

1. Our State Video would be nice to have 10-15 minutes before KO on as you make your way to your seat and settle in instead of tranquilizing the crowd right before the runout.

2. Unplug the announcer's mic for the maroon white cheer. If people cant figure out to look at the cheerleader's signs to tell which side is maroon or white then they've got bigger problems. Put a 50-yard wide ford emblem on the jumbotron during this part if it must be sponsored by ford.

3. Do the DJ video as the team runs out, not before. Then it's no longer the elephant in the room. Haven't we had a new video for each season? Meaning we wont have to see that deuche anymore?

4. I use to love the DPR as a kid back in the 90's. Not so much anymore. Probably should just let the team decide if and when they want to do it rather than provoking them to do jumping jacks with Chuck Smooth.

Agree on the DPR. They are really hitting it that hard.....

Need to bring back Kenzaki Jones to teach those mfers a few things.

I'll admit I've not been able to make a home game this year so now is the first I've seen of this DJ video and while it is bad (but not just GAWD AWFUL) it just seems pointless. Cut that out and run out at the end of more cowbell instead of people ringing their bell at the end of the SNL bit and then sitting on their hands for 60 seconds and then expecting them to pick up right where they left off. I can only assume the genius in charge of this understands nothing about momentum or kinetic energy, keep that thing moving

...and we outsourced it. I agree, its not very motivational. The audio is what sucks. Its a crappy generic stadium rock techno song that is poorly mixed and sounds like hell coming from our speakers.

^^^THIS^^^ The highlights are solid, but the generic music is what's so ******. If they'd stuck with O Fortuna or something, it would still be pretty good. Can we please just pick one bell related song - Hair of the Dog, maybe? - and use it consistently?
