I do recall that now. ThxKey and Lyons who if I remember correctly were dismissed and never let back on to the team. Hell, not even sure where they are at currently.

This is now a much better football culture than 20 years ago, just ask George Mitchell. He fixed it!From their behavior during Penn State's recent slide. The toxicity at the stadium was an embarrassment. In any event, we will see how they will behave next year and the next during a rebuilding phase. And by the way, Napier's best season in 4 years was 8 and 4.
I don’t think football players need to do that campus thing anymore. They can just fly in for gamesThe solution is that when be build those player specific one bedroom dorms we build them in Harrisburg. Obviously.
AgreeKey and Lyons who if I remember correctly were dismissed from the team and never let back on. Hell, not even sure where they are at currently. What that has to do with the HC is pretty much nada unless we want to bring up the hit pieces done at Joe towards the end of his reign which too were unfair.
ever visit Eugene...I don’t think football players need to do that campus thing anymore. They can just fly in for games
I doubt he'd be able to show restraint when sitting in the living room of a 17 y.o. and his parents when they start sharing their demands. Could get ugly in a hurry. Lol.Today’s players couldn’t handle Gruden’s coaching style. He would destroy their psyche in a week
We absolutely dont need a coach by any date. You don't pass on the best guy for a month of work.I don't see how we get Elko. A&M may make the playoffs, making him unavailable until January. We need someone in place before the December signing day. Also A&M can easily outbid us if it turns into a bidding war.
If it is that's a huge mistakeI'm having doubts about Brady. No HC experience. I think that needs to be a prerequisite.
IIRC, Drew said he would spend the whole day in the facility . Seems like the campus experience isn’t there anymore.ever visit Eugene...
"so tour guide where did the football players live?"
"not on campus, about 3 miles that way" points in direction of football facilities and stadium
Barry can’t help himself. Franklin is gone and he’s still taking shots even though the players were dismissed from the program.Key and Lyons who if I remember correctly were dismissed from the team and never let back on. I would add Brohm, Key, Golesh and Sumrall. I would subtract Drinkowitz, Kiffin and Elko. I don’t think we have the stomach or ability (or BOT votes) to match the dollars required following the $50m Franklin hit, even considering the offset from a new gig. I think Rhule (hell no) and Campbell have been the top candidates, and I think Campbell actually gets the job. What is the realistic hot board now?
Drinkowitz
Kiffin
Brady
Elko
Rhule
Campbell
Any chance you make a play for Gruden? I like the idea of being able to get someone in sooner rather than later. I'd still like to see Hartline and Stein on the list. Unless Kraft pulls a DeBoer out of the hat, I like Drinkowitz, Brady, and Elko best. Not sure they'll be available though.
You do realize that those two individuals haven’t been PSU football players since early August 2024, or are you ignoring that to make whatever point you’re trying to make? You may be right. But kind of a tough argument to make when there are two PSU football players, from the most recent/current regime, awaiting trial for rapes of female undergrads. A situation that, based on actions taken by the University, they all want to pretend never even exists - and certainly not one that led to any actions taken by the University vav the head coach or the program.
The entire context - this and other issues, taken in totality:
It would be impossible for it to be more abundantly clear that the only thing that matters is "Win More Games"
I’m good with giving Campbell a shot. I don’t think you can pry Brohm from Louisville. Golesh and Sumrall are intriguing but they are doing it at the G5 level. It’s a little different at the P4 level. Maybe they are home runs, but it is a bit of a gamble. Actually, I may be ok with them over a few others.I would add Brohm, Key, Golesh and Sumrall. Keep in mind, this is coming from the same guy who felt the need to post video of the Abdul Carter tow truck driver incident on his facebook. He never misses an opportunity take jabs at Franklin, the team, or PSU in general. You do realize that those two individuals haven’t been PSU football players since early August 2024, or are you ignoring that to make whatever point you’re trying to make?
Is this the case? The team is still traveling to Harrisburg for their flights, as far as I know.I thought the SC airport runway was long enough to handle the big planes so no need to go to Hburg anymore?
I by no means am trying to diminish the severity of the charges filed against those two individuals, but there have been very few incidents, at least made known to the public, regarding PSU football players since the time of O’Brien and Franklin.Keep in mind, this is coming from the same guy who felt the need to post video of the Abdul Carter tow truck driver incident on his facebook. I agree. Again, he never misses a chance to take a shot, despite the fact that those two were permanently dismissed from the team.I by no means am trying to diminish the severity of the charges filed against those two individuals, but there have been very few incidents, at least made known to the public, regarding PSU football players since the time of O’Brien and Franklin.

No but Dillingham is getting renewed interest.Rhule pretty much said he wanted it. I'm kind of braced for it, even to the point of telling myself that Nebraska's gonna flub off the rest of the season since they're not motivated to play for a guy who gushed over Penn State in a press conference.
I think for most away games they can take a smaller plane and leave from SCE. Franklin complained last year about the runway before the trip to USC. For a much longer flight like that it is either stop to refuel or drive to Harrisburg and take a bigger plane. I would guess that it’s just the west coast games when the runway length and smaller plane is an issue. Is this the case? The team is still traveling to Harrisburg for their flights, as far as I know.
Is he an ASU guy? Supposedly, that was his dream job and he is very happy? No but Dillingham is getting renewed interest.
The layover must explain the UCLA debacle?I think for most away games they can take a smaller plane and leave from SCE. Franklin complained last year about the runway before the trip to USC. I’d be happy spending my winters in Tempe. Is he an ASU guy? Supposedly, that was his dream job and he is very happy?
Well money talks and I think his buyout is 24 million plus WHOOF or something like that unless I have his buyout mixed up with someone else.Is he an ASU guy? Supposedly, that was his dream job and he is very happy?
Hell yeah. I mean dark and gloomy PA is nice too, but Tempe has the edge.I’d be happy spending my winters in Tempe.

Again, if I read it properly, Campbell’s buyout is just $2 million and he is making $5 million per year.Well money talks and I think his buyout is 24 million plus WHOOF or something like that unless I have his buyout mixed up with someone else.
Ooh, Chuckle. Be very scared!
Campbell certainly isn’t flashy, but he strikes me as a very good football coach, and probably would build a mentally tougher and physical program than what we’ve seen in recent seasons. However, my fear is with him we’d become a Ferentz type Iowa team that would grind out eight to ten win seasons rather than an elite program that comes close to OSU’s level. The problem is I don’t know if there is an active coach who would be almost guaranteed of doing the latter.Again, if I read it properly, Campbell’s buyout is just $2 million and he is making $5 million per year.![]()
I agree 100%. I don’t know what his ceiling would be. I don’t know what ISU looks like as I don’t watch them much. All I know is he is known for fundamentals and attention to detail. Two things that I think PSU has lacked for awhile. I agree that there are no guarantees, especially if you take out the guys who may make long runs in the playoffs or not be willing to leave their current situation. However, if you’re going to take a chance on someone, the money numbers for Campbell are far more palatable if it doesn’t work out.Campbell certainly isn’t flashy, but he strikes me as a very good football coach, and probably would build a mentally tougher and physical program than what we’ve seen in recent seasons. Campbell’s offense is much more dynamic than Ferentz and who isn’t (although Campbell is only 5-5 vs Iowa) but perhaps you mean Campbell will win but not win it all?Campbell certainly isn’t flashy, but he strikes me as a very good football coach, and probably would build a mentally tougher and physical program than what we’ve seen in recent seasons. What does their offense look like? Good WR and TE play? Didn’t they just have a WR taken pretty high in the draft? Purdy, Montgomery and Breece Hall are really good players from his program. I know they typically have a strong run game.Campbell’s offense is much more dynamic than Ferentz and who isn’t (although Campbell is only 5-5 vs Iowa) but perhaps you mean Campbell will win but not win it all?
It’s gonna be at least 6 weeks until we know anything.Seriously. The entire nation waits with baided breath to see if we can steal Nebraskas head coach who has an even worse record against top 15 teams. He's 5-2 and they are saying if he simply goes 8-4 he's got the job.
Other than that? That's it. All of the other names either don't want the job or will be coaching into Late January in the playoffs. The hire can't wait until then and you can't hire a coach to do nothing for a month and a half while your roster leaves.
Meanwhile every other coach in the nation is now cashing in on record setting contracts to keep them from going to Penn State, but I still can't find the coach who wants the gig.
This sounds insane but maybe just make Terry Smith the head coach regardless if we finish 3-9 or 6-6, and 6-6 is best case scenario. Not kidding...he might be the only way. Either that or bring back Manny, who I think would both want and take the job. Who would have believed that in late October the Penn State football job is the equivalent of the Penn State basketball job.

Would be good to get one prior to the portal opening up Jan 2, other than that no compelling reason for anything sooner.December? LOL need it before December
I wouldn't. Too damn hot. Last time I was there in November it hit 93. No thank you.I’d be happy spending my winters in Tempe.
