He's a good guy to have on your roster as a rotational guard, but cannot be the ball-dominant PG everyone at Providence and Seton Hall was hoping him to be.

He doesn't have an offensive game. He's not quick with the ball, doesn't create angles or spacing, and isn't an outside shooter. I don't think he's physical with the ball either; he doesn't use that size on offense the way Kadary did. We saw that all year last year with him floating around the arc constantly and rarely getting into the lane or creating. Yes he can make a good pass which is why the assist rate was pretty good, but he left a lot on the table in terms of what could've been created when you watch him play. To be fair it didn't help him that the SHU team was the walking wounded and a bunch of bricklayers after losing Chaunce Jenkins for the year.

And even this chart illustrates that. Look where his offense is.

Dual's been productive at McNeese.

He's is averaging 9.7 PPG on 52.7% shooting ( just 26.3% on threes) over 23.6 MPG. He leads the team with 4.3 APG and also as you might expect 2.4 steals per game. He's second on the team in MPG -- they are similar to us with 10 players at 13.6 or more MPG.

Garwey has offensive limitations for sure but he was also playing with a bad shoulder that made him very unwilling to play through contact or shoot unless wide open. His shot and release are very long and he needs room to get it off which was exacerbated by his weak shoulder.

This year his offense has been better and he's more willing to take shots. Last year he only took a shot on 12.9% of his offensive possessions while that's gone up to 23.0% at McNeese. He's also been extremley accurate on his 2-pt shots shooting 60.8% on these shots way up from 46.0% last year. Still doesn't shoot or make many 3s but his assist rate is up also so he's been a solid offensive player and an excellent defensive player at the lower level.

He was one of the few guys I would have wanted to return but not as a starter at the PG. He would have had to earn his minutes, ideally as a 20-minute type off the bench as a defensive specialist and backup PG. But things were complicated with his shoulder injury and I think both parties are better off with how things are. We couldn't afford to have guys who couldn't work in the summer.
