Yeh I think East has done ok with size in last 2 games but speed will be hard for them to deal with , East doesn’t have that 19 speed .

I think it will be a close game. Home field advantage for East Surry
The only way it will be close is if Monroe has a slow start(like they have been doing in most games). If Monroe corrects the slow start they will run away with it. That said East Surry sounds like they make good game plans. I'll say 40-24 Monroe.

East has a very good team , but they are lacking a couple positions on the offensive line and their receivers run great routes and have great hands , but top notch speed they don’t have . Speed they had in 19 is surely a once in 20 year run . I will say this if they can’t control folder Boaz , he will keep them in the game , he’s better than his older brother at this point in time , his senior year he will be one of best qbs in the state , very strong arm and very fast .Love my cards but I say 34 to 21 Monroe .

#7 Monroe at #2 East Surry

Monroe is the least played team at 9 games total this year...with what is being regarded as the toughest 9 games in NC this year as @Maiden Creek has posted somewhere. They have averaged scores of 44-13 this season and 58-21 in the playoffs. They've kept 4 offenses to 1 score - including 3 shutouts.

East Surry has had stiffer defensive competition so far in the playoffs and will be looking to set aside their offensive hiccups. They have averaged scores of 47-10 this season and 33-13 in the playoffs. Their defense has remained their backbone. They've kept 6 offenses to 1 score this year including 3 shutouts of their own.

I believe East Surry fixes their offense this week and I believe their defense finally meets its match. Monroe will play their biggest matchup since their 1 loss earlier in the year in a high scoring air raid and a stiff defense. From what I can tell, ES is a "underneath passes with athletes getting YAC" type of offense and Monroe is a "beat you over the top" kinda offense. I believe this kind of shootout favors Monroe.

#7 Monroe 37 - #2 East Surry 31

From everything I have read this looks to be a high scoring game, I think in close high scoring games the turn over battle will the the difference. If Monroe likes over the top and ES can have a couple take ways that will change the game. Sounds to be a good game regardless but who ever wins the turnover battle I think will win the game. Nothing like football in November!!!!!!!!

If Monroe loses it will be from mistakes, miscues and turnovers. As one of two 2A alpha dogs in the state, they have alot more to lose than East Surry, so their usual slow start might do them in.

Good Luck East Surry From Your Home For Many Years, The NWC.
Be nice if East Surry & Mount Airy won the 1A & 2A Championships.
But we both may come up short in the west with ES having a tougher hill to climb the next 2 weeks and Mount Airy may reach the western finals against Eastern Randolph if they can win their home games.

You were low key numb for a moment. That L stung you. Good to see you are still being active on here, despite that L to your fellow county’s school. You had a slight “bubble guts” feeling for a minute, though.
that makes for a good story

Nope...not better athletes...but a more resilient team..that wasn't phased by Monroe's athleticism. ES defense rose to the occassion. If you put Boaz on Monroe's team...they would be damn near unstoppable. He was just that much better of a QB. He along with a defense that played with heart..along with A GREAT COACHING GAMEPLAN was the reason ES beat a more athletic team.

Lowmans have been known to put together great gameplans....and so have Byrnes. The sons of two great Catawba county coaches meet next week.

Congratulations to our neighbors "just down" the road! It is so nice to see you pull out the win and move to the 4th round. Pulling for you all the way Cardinals. Hope both the Bears and the Cardinals are in Raleigh/Chapel Hill in a couple of weeks so that ALL SURRY COUNTY can support both our teams at one place.
