Yesterday's loss sucked, but I'm not nearly as down as others here (or some of my friends who were texting me non-stop last night, lol).
This year is about building. Even a W yesterday doesn't mean anything for this season because we aren't making the playoffs with this team and, more importantly, the hardest schedule any team's had to face that I can recall. IMO, if we come out of this year with a legitimate, objective belief that we've found our franchise QB and have a nice core of players to build around, I'll be content. Give me competitive games, a few more Ws, and growth from Dart, Cam, and some of the other guys who will be here next year on the offensive and defensive side of the ball.
I think I'm a realist about my teams, so this didn't devastate me as other Giant losses in my lifetime (the Flipper Anderson game being the biggest heartbreak, the Vikings playoff disaster, the Niners playoff disaster). Even the loss in GB after the infamous "boat trip" bothered me because I thought we might have another Eli run in us. Maybe I'm being too soft on the Giants, who haven't been good for a while, but when you are my age and have seen 4 Super Bowl wins (out of 5 trips), including two of the biggest upsets in the history of the sport, it changes your perspective. Especially when you also root for the Knicks and Seton Hall (thank god, btw, for the Yankees).
