We held their best player Williams to 12 points. Our offense shared the ball. We had to have at least 5 guys in double figures.

only concern is Mike’s knee.

Fantastic job by everybody. Credit to Shaheen having them focused and playing together. There’s much better talent this year. But they also look like they actually love basketball.

Starting to see roles develop. The more players that fit roles the better the team. Very nice

Fantastic win!!!

Seton Hall played very good team-oriented, complimentary basketball on both sides of the ball.

Seton Hall had great energy, NC State seemed liked they couldn't be bothered.

Great way to start the 2nd half!!

i thought the 9:30am start would benefit seton hall. NCST completely out hustled.

Both Jay Williams and Seth Greenberg said the same thing in the post game about NC State.

Why not just say we beat them and not diminish the win saying NC State didn’t put in an effort.
I hear ya, but they were showing clips where our guys were diving on the ground for loose balls while NC State's guys were all standing. Multiple incidents of this. So it rings legitimate, I think. It doesn't diminish what Seton Hall did, but we can say that NC State didn't bring the same energy. And they lost. Last year's team needed a lot more than an opponent not bringing complementary energy.

Oh stop. It’s a legit observation. We played great, but it’s fair to say NC State didn’t.
Sometimes the poor play and look on the court has a lot to do with the opponent. ACC teams ARE soft. They are used to playing teams who don’t play defense. Sure they score 100/ game against their cupcakes but put a solid defense up against them and they get frustrated.

From Game 1 it was easy to see this group has a lot of athleticism and basketball IQ. I'm glad to see they played up to the level of the competition. It was a really good win! Go Pirates!!

First time this year I've seen them play. Agree that they seem much more talented than last year's group. Aggressive shot-blockers and rebounders. Really impressed with Himes, esp. his offensive moves: quick feet and ability to use both hands. As season moves along, he and Clark need to play more minutes.

Bud and Trey made me a liar in the second half. I think that’s the value of Bud in the last 5-10 minutes. Ball handling and really put it in another gear when NC State looked fatigued. A lot of quality possessions down the stretch.

Fisher struggled from three but he showed some great body control and moves in the paint. Williams, McCray and Simpkins are like interchangeable parts and playing with confidence.

Payne and Hines are a terrific tandem. Really impressed with Hines poised. What a difference having size and shot blocking ability at the 5.

Sha has taken a lot of crap, justified but he has team pouting in the right direction.

That’s an ACC team. They love to score and when they get stopped consistently they curl up. Lose the hustle. If they were simply missing open shots I would say on they were off but we had
It doesn't diminish anything, it's a testament to how Seton hall played.
I have seen post commenting how NC State didn’t play with effort, how the early start time affected the nc state more than us, and how they probably look past us. How about we were just the better team

Tremendous win and yes it was that 16-2 run at the start of the second half that made the biggest difference. NC State was in chase mode from that point on.

It looked like he had a huge brace on both knees towards the end of the game
I think it was a massage brace or something along those lines to help loosen up cramps.

Great effort by our guys today, despite Williams being out most of the second half! That was actually fun to watch and we controlled the game from the start. Was not expected by me for sure, but congrats to Sha and the team!

Hines is the REAL DEAL and was a huge difference maker. State had no answer inside. BLOCK PARTY not only our big men but our guards getting involved too! I believe AJ and TJ each had several.

I think they were Compression boots.. They use air to apply waves of pressure to muscles.

Sha's comments.....

On Mike Williams’ injury: “His whole body is cramping. (Simpkins) is cramping too. We’re going to need everybody (the rest of the tourney). Mike got full-body cramps, it’s hot down here, we tried to give him electrolytes, we came down here early for this reason.

Bilas said this was a common occurrence for the Maui Tournament
Having been in that building during the Maui Invitational, I can tell you it can get quite warm. Outside temperature was in the low 80's during the game on Monday.

The building now has air conditioning but didn't always, something Bilas also noted. But they squeeze more than 2,000 people into a fairly small space. Plus, if you watch, the doors in the corners open frequently during the games pulling in more warm air.

Also why it was so impressive bc we didn’t rely on an unusually flukey game:

They need to bottle this effort and rinse and repeat the rest of the season! If they can do that we will be in great shape!
