So the "rally the base" interview with a friendly media person went horribly wrong. You can't come off like a complete jackass when you're dealing with an irritated fanbase dying to check out on this season.
Think we found out what happens when you depose a football coach from Youngstown, Ohio in the midst of a losing streak.

Stoops was pissed. REALLY didn't like the question about things looking disorganized sometimes. Past five games have been hard. Think Jones was a little taken aback - and understandably so.

Repeatedly not having guys on the field is an issue, buddy. Sorry if that rubs you the wrong way. No one is really upset over Auburn, we played well. We're pissed about getting embarrassed @MSU, UT and @UGA.
Really felt like Matt was lobbing him softballs, but evidently touched a nerve. That would have been a lot more interesting if they'd had Stoops on camera.

To Stoops credit, he does sound angry as ****. I'd prefer that, I guess. First person I've ever heard daze Jones. I don't think Matt was expecting that at all. Lol. Wonder if he was covering his mouth during that interview?
He sounded like such a rage monster I fully expect clips of that interview to be viral and spread everywhere on Twitter Dot Com by early afternoon. guys like @edsbs will absolutely love tweeting out audio of an SEC head football coach losing his ****.

Jones took it easy on him. He sugarcoated damn near everything he said/asked, so don't blame him.
I'm all about the guy being emotionally invested and if he gives that interview after the game on Saturday and acts that way, then fine. However, if you seek out a public forum two days after the game and still act like that, it's not good. We all give Tom Crean **** for how crazy over-emotional he is. Well, Stoops Creaned that interview.
I think that's what was so baffling. Matt was basically giving Stoops the Louisville/Pitino treatment, and he went Bobby Knight.
Nah, Stoops isn't in that mode. You can obviously see why programs don't want coaches speaking during these situations. They had to know that Matt was going to ask a few tough questions but nothing was even close to out of bounds.
I'm assuming the meeting Stoops was in was pretty intense and not over. Probably should've waited until he calmed down.

Matt questions if things are organized on the sidelines, references a play Prescott scored on against Miss St/8 man punt return, Stoops gets fired up says things are fine and says gets obviously fired up. Threw in a 'give me a break' obviously didnt like the question.
Matt quickly tries to end the interview, Stoops tries to joke about what just happened to relieve some of the awkwardness, not sure it worked.

I hate the "well if you can do it better get out here and try" blasts. Listen MFer you get paid $2+ million to coach this team. Do your job and act better than that.
He shouldn't have done the interview but I'd actually prefer that to coach speak if we're going to get it. I didn't want to hear, "Oh we're mad as hell just getting back to work prepping for Vandy. Come out next week. We're as concerned as the fans. QB position is under evaluation."
Mizzou's Prez resigns. Wow. I don't know the details yet but that's pretty interesting/dangerous precedent.
I planned the trip to Nashville months ago to see the Cats beat Vandy in person. Now my biggest concern is finding a bar that will have the basketball games on. :grimace:

He was just sort of redassed and incoherent. I don't think it's the end of the world, but it wasn't his finest moment.
Nah, yelling at an innocent sideline reporter was more ridiculous. Stoops got a little red but he wasn't an ******* to a woman.

Not blaming Matt at all. I'm sure he lobbed softballs. I unsubscribed from KSR last week. I won't hear the show or podcast.
