He's unreal...the way he moves around is maybe the most impressive. Looks like a 3-man at times.

...Wiggins looked like an elite world player that last game -- the can't miss future ALL NBA'er almost everyone 'saw' in HS. Those two could end up being quite the tandem if they can keep them together, ala OKC.

Barker must really suck. Or maybe is not very intelligent and doesn't know the playbook?

You would think he would be Stoops' guy.

Towles' confidence is completely shot. His trust in his OL is completely shot.

Don't make a change just to appease the fans and cost us the Vandy game. But if it really is close at all between the 2 QBs, you have to go with Barker at this point.

I still think our most glaring problems are on the other side of the ball. And our most glaring problems on offense are on the line. But if Barker is better, go for it.

Either way, get ready for the great UK football fan base to cry for Gunnar Hoak or Walker Wood next year.

VJ King to ink with UL today? What a dumb kid, surrounded by dumb family and/or coaches. Want to go there, fine, stay committed. wait until Spring idiot, to know if you are chaining yourself to the Titanic or not.

That's your main concern with Dawson?

Wow.

Edited. Meant to say with his comments.

Dude has numerous issues. Also, Towles smart-*** comments did not come off as endearing, and neither do Billy Clyde Dawson's.
Alan Cutler asked, “How’s your head?”
“Still attached,” he responded.

Rolleyes. Now we're inventing reasons to be mad at Towles, the person?

He's just not very good at QB...but has been basically a perfect kid/representative/teammate his entire time here. Gimme a break.

Barker doesn't suck, he's probably just not THAT much better and although Towles had a miserable last couple games historically he would rebound and have a great game. He hasn't rebounded yet. Maybe it will work I just think if you're expecting Barker to come in and light it up... probably going to be disappointed. Hope I'm wrong. Also think the spring competition is good. They were probably hoping Barker would take the leap.

The hilarious thing about King is that his scouting report reads almost EXACTLY the same as Wayne Blackshear. Very similar players coming out of high school. So, good call, VJ.

If Barker was as good of a teammate as Towles, he'd have been starting since the beginning of the year. Towles has always been nearly the perfect teammate in every interview or situation I've seen. Doesn't matter if he's playing bad, good, lost the job, won the job, whatever...he's always come off to me as a team player and puts winning first.

I think this Barkers is a lousy practice player is a myth that's somehow taken as fact. Brett Dawson told me that before he left for NOLA the media was invited to two practices in fall camp. He said in one practice both QB's didn't look good and in the second practice, which took place after Towles was named the starter, that Barker looked better.

Coaches are just reluctant to make a change at QB. Hell, Tom Brady never beat Drew Bledsoe out for the job in New England. Bledsoe got injured and they were forced to play Brady. However, the handling of this situation with Barker/Towles has been poor. It seems like the staff is not totally committed to Towles by saying the job is open and by giving Barker first team reps, but they're unwilling to actually pull the trigger. That has created the worst possible situation. Their struggling QB is getting mixed signals from the staff and is left wondering when/if they are going to pull him. That can't be good for whatever confidence he has left.

Agree. I don't think for one second Barker is "the answer" (now), or that he'll even be as good as Towles. I'm just done with the Towles experiment, and ready to let the young guy get a shot to grow a bit & see if he potentially CAN be the answer down the road.

I'm no college football but Dawson has done NATHAN to help the QBs. Probably doesn't matter who the hell is back there. A few quick throws to Baker/Johnson, pound the ball on 1st down, a screen or draw here and there with Boom/Jojo.

Instead we end up with Jared throwing it deep half the damn time on 1st down, crap o la run for 1-2 yards on 2nd, and the Towles is running for his life on 3rd & long.

Odd as this sounds, I think Towles is the "safe" choice for this staff b/c he's a known commodity. With Barker, you don't really know what you're going to get. I just think they're having a hard time pulling the trigger b/c they know it'll be a headache for the rest of this season and next year if they do.

BWAHAHAHAHA [roll] You were the biggest West Indies fan on the planet back in 2012. Of course, NOW you're a big Sri Lanka honk and F the Windies. YOU'RE A JOKE, Baldwin.

Ok, Chad. You're the one who clearly has a grasp on the way this team is trending. Anyone who knows the history of Sri Lanka cricket & our current record/remaining schedule can say.. "Welp, if we beat West Indies, India and Pakistan we'll finish above .500 & that's a very good finish for an interim coach considering all of the circumstances." No **** that would be a good finish.

However, if you've attended or watched the matches we've played in this year you could see many disturbing components that scream we are trending downward at a rapidly negative pace with each week the situation getting worse and worse. There are a ton of issues beyond the causal and indifferent fan's tally of our win/loss column. My wife could tell you a sweep of the One-Day International Series would be a success.

I'm not upset at the overall record but more at what's happened on the 22-yard pitch the past 3 weeks. You just don't flick a switch and start playing well so I find it hard to believe all of a sudden all of the issue we've had in this losing streak are going to disappear against South Africa & we'll light up the scoreboard. Just like you don't go from playing decent cricket to a raging dumpster fire overnight.

And, yes, I get that our next 3 opponents are all worse than England, Australia and New Zealand so maybe we will perform better. That being said there are some major issues going way beyond just "the opponents are better, learn Sri Lanka cricket ". Kiss my ***. It's more complex than that. We've been totally embarrassed the last 3 weeks.

Fernando has always been inconsistent but he literally looked like one of the WORST BATSMEN in all of cricket against Indonesia. We're talking Dasun Sanaka in 2012 against Borneo type of ****. Our fielders don't fight to get the ball. They've given up. We have zero offensive identity. The bowlers are garbage and that's being disrespectful to garbage. Our best defensive players in Shashikala, Chamari and Kohli have been almost non existent recently. There's without a doubt some major form of division in the lockeroom btw coaches, players and a mix of the two against each other.

This team is lost & the coaches have lost this group.

Don't ask for much when it comes to Sri Lanka Lions Cricket. The older I've become the more I've come at peace with the program's limitations. I do ask that we don't spiral out of control down the stretch, play like a prepared team, and play with fire/emotion.

Don't lecture me on Sri Lanka cricket, whether it's a pointless endeavor or not, just because I care.

If we finish 5-7 and Barker is not named the starter out of spring practice the'll have an even bigger headache on their hands when it comes time to sell tickets for 2016. The shine will have worn off this staff and the stadium. People need something to be excited about in Kentucky when it comes to football.

Imagine the malaise and general indifference towards UK Football from our fanbase this offseason if we finish 5-7.

Then we inherit a tough as nails schedule next year with another losing season and the fanbase as a whole will be back to the way it was during the Joker era. TS.

Just fng win on Saturday. Period.

Anybody else here not believe in Maryland at all? They won't suck or anything, but my hunch is that if any highly ranked team ends up not living up to the hype i.e. so many dudes penciling them into the Final Four, touting their upperclassmen like they have years' worth of big game reps (no), it will be those guys. I like Michigan State better in the Big Ten. Better coach, and they'll have the best player (Valentine), plus Bryn Forbes, who I've loved since he kicked our butts at Cleveland State.

I'm no college football but 80 Proof pointed something out to me at the UT game. We line up in the shotgun on every play. Typically in an "Air Raid" offense that operates out of the shotgun your O line will be set up where the individual lineman are separated out by so much space when they line up to give us max QB protection. However, we do just the opposite. Our lineman are bunched together when they lineup like we are a power running team working the QB under center.

I'm sure it's just an oversight. Maybe you should shoot Shannon a quick email and let him know they've been lining up wrong all year and that's not what you're supposed to do.

Meemommie heading into surgery this morning for a full knee replacement. I imagine that's gonna be pretty rough for someone of that age...Lauren's dad had one last year, and he was out of commission for a good while.

On a positive note, Lauren & I volunteered to cook Thanksgiving Dinner in it's entirety, something she typically does all by herself, but has been wearing on her in recent years; obviously no chance she could this year. Don't think I've ever seen her so happy/relieved as she was when we offered. Actually be kinda fun, as we're usually bored out of our minds waiting around. Damn, I love Thanksgiving. :)

Food is going to be kicked up a notch, for sure. :fire::100points:

- That's because we aren't running a typical Air Raid. Our OL aren't in wide splits because Stoops wanted a focus on an inside running game. In those air raid splits your lineman are also never in a three-point stance, which kills you in run blocking. I don't know the stat comparison, but from memory it looks like the change has netted us some improved "tough yardage" success (relatively, of course). We're not Bama and were aren't trying to be, but I think Stoops hated having to go to the Wildcat every time it was 3rd/4th and short just because they was the only way we had a chance of picking it up.

The inverted wishbone formation, for how much everyone hates it, is actually a fairly good way to a get a mix of max pass protect and run blocking. Wish we would run more screens and wheel routes with Conrad out of the formation, but it does serve a purpose.

- Barker will do well if given the chance IMO. I will be fine with the freshmen mistakes and reduced deep ball threat for a guy that at least delivers the ball quickly. Accuracy is still TBD with him, but I want a QB that isn't afraid to throw the ball to the point they miss guys when they are open only to panic and try to throw it in late.
