Nothing. Like all big reds I love it. It's just that one line from Sideways. If you up it to like $8-10 bucks you can get much better stuff. 2 Buck is not good but their other stuff is alright. We go with those Bota Boxes pretty regularly.
Wine snobs consider Merlot sort of an easy, beginner's wine. It's not overly conplex, pretty much conventionally popular. Like it's enjoyable if you're a simpleton. (Snob opinion, not mine.) The joke in the movie is that he's a huge snob and he'll take a lot of crap but he won't drink a merlot. His wine snobbery is the only thing he really has pride in at that point.

I guess I just prefer to wear mocs/drivers when it's not wet. If it's cold/gray/wet, Clarks bushacres, Keens, or appropriate dress shoe.
