Correct. LSU and Kentucky can fire their head coaches tomorrow and we'd owe ours $500,000 more than LSU would owe Les Miles.

I think UK football has finally broken me. I honestly think I'm done with it. It brings out the worst in me and makes me unhappy way more often than not. I mean, what's the effing point?

I had that same feeling today listening to Stoops' press conference after the game.

He kept bringing up that the team needed to learn to "embrace the grind" this offseason or some other nonsense that sounded like a mixture of Billy Gillispie and Charlie Brown's mother.

At first I got mad and thought, "Instead of the grind, why don't you tell your offensive coordinator that you were down to two running backs. One is a true freshman and the other is a true sophmore who is actually probably a tight end and has a tendency to fumble and hasn't learned to run with a low pad level yet.

Your receivers can't catch but are decently shifty.

Your offensive line is awful.

So how about we try this nifty new play called a 'screen'? It doesn't take long to develop. It is risk adverse. You can get your receivers out in space where their skills will be best utilized. And, hey man, you've got this Dorian Baker kid who is currently useless as a wide receiver in any capacity other than blocking.

Let's just try it.

Next let's try not constantly lining up our hotshot tight end as an h-back and instead use him as a weapon. Just for kicks."

And then I thought, "Why? Why am I even worried about it? Why do I do this to myself? These are obvious things that aren't being done and I'm an idiot about football and I recognize this. Why even get upset?"

Chill man, look at that funny dancing baby on the video board! If we are lucky the band nerds will start the wave soon.

CM gets it! Hire a wacky offense only guy, give him some high school level assistant coaches that don't cost too much...nobody takes us too seriously including ourselves = profit. We would have so much more money to pay the women's field hockey coach.

Or, as CoolCat pointed out, we can hire a first time head coach that sounds cool on interviews and recruits marginally better than we traditionally have...and give him a life time contract for beating a ****** Mizzou team.

Vandy is better than we are and I think they picked their coach by pulling a name of assistants from a hat. They haven't made a stadium upgrade since 1985...

Luckily for PTI and not so much for the team, it looks like two 5-7 teams will make bowls. I guess they base it on APR and the two leaders are Nebraska and Missouri.

I'm not usually this guy but I shut it down after Vandy. Knew today was a sure L. Stoops isn't going anywhere. Hope he figures some **** out, I'm not real optimistic.

Regardless is basketball season and I ******* love this team.

Was mentioned on the KSR postgame show but there all the ish that happened in the locker room will start leaking out, much like Tubby's Team Turmoil season. This team was a GD trainwreck, and the attitudes of our players and ineptitude of our coaching staff had pretty much everything to do with this abomination of a season. Easiest season in a generation or more and we crap the bed. Nice work guys. Many more losing seasons to come! Enjoy!

LEXINGTON, Ky. University of Kentucky football coach Mark Stoops is getting paid – again. After having his contract extended already once in May, Stoops got another contract extension and significant raise on Friday before boarding a plane to Missouri for Saturday's game.

The new deal, which includes a prorated raise for the remainder of this season, adds another year and will pay him a total of $21.45 million through the 2019 season. His guaranteed compensation escalates each season, up to $3.25 million next year and $4.25 million by the final year.

"The success we've had so far this year has been encouraging, but that's not what this is about," athletic director Mitch Barnhart said. "It's about the general direction of the trajectory of our program."

*****

Stoops' new guaranteed compensation

2014 – $2.7 million (after prorated raise)

2015 – $3.25 million

2016 – $3.5 million

2017 – $3.75 million

2018 – $4.0 million

2019 – $4.25 million

Buyout

If Stoops is terminated before Dec. 1, 2017 without cause, he's owed the entirety of his remaining contract.

If terminated between Dec. 1, 2017 and Nov. 30, 2018, he gets 80 percent of his remaining salary.

If terminated any time after Nov. 30, 2019, he'll receive 60 percent of his remaining salary.

[laughing]

Good lord. What an awful, unnecessary, one-sided sham of a deal. The Louisville Arena Authority would have done a better job representing UK's interests than Mitch Barnhart and whoever else was at the table. There was absolutely no reason to make this deal in October, 2014. As the story points out, Stoops contract had already been extended in May of the same year. This was Barnhart being completely insecure and scared shitless that his shiny new football coach might be lured away leaving him holding the bag. You don't give a guy with no history of winning anything that type of buyout structure. That's indefensible.

He is a great AD-signed, fans who attend the candle light dinner at the 50 yard line.

I felt it necessary to post this in the "FARRRR STOOPS AND HARRRR MILES!1" thread on the pay side. You were credited as the source.

Hell, at least Mummeball was fun. Remember when we scored 68 got dang points on UL? Now we run an "Air Raid" that consists of us slamming into the line for 2 yards over and over again.
I know one thing, with both Barker and Towles, we would occasionally have a series where we utilized short, timing pass plays and looked pretty good. Mizzou first half comes to mind, some of our early drives today (Barker did a nice job of selling the screen in the 1st). So, you know the plays are there...but we rarely utilized it. It's like we were dead set on being a power running play action/deep ball team. Our pass plays take soooo long to develop most of the time.

Damn, its just setting in with me that it's most likely that nothing at all is changing. Like not even a team manager. We are rebooting this *****, wouldn't surprise me one bit if Patty Ice is taking the first snap next season.

What we did offensively made no sense whatsoever with the o-line we had. We did nothing to attempt to compensate for it but instead actively sought to expose it. I'll never understand wtf we were doing.

I speak from a position of knowledge. My family is one of those families that had Bengals season tickets starting in 1968. We love football. Love cheering for the home team. Unfortunately the home team kinda sucked. Sure, there were glimpses of greatness, as defined by close SB losses in 1981 and 1988, games we still discuss at family get togethers. But man, other than that they were awful. So eventually, during the 90s, the tickets got given up. And a lot of other families gave them up too. And you know what happened? Things started to change. Small things- like letting people with NFL experience make personnel decisions. Hiring scouts that weren't family members. Taking a "hands off" approach and letting football people handle football things. And things started to get better. Are the Bengals a super bowl caliber team? Probably not. But they're in a much better place than where they were when people stopped coming to the games.

But here's what's going on now and what will happen with UK. The Bengals are the 2nd best team in the conference and you can buy tickets to tomorrow's game. Why? Because we've all seen this **** before. Nothing matters if they don't win in the playoffs. And they know that.

So next season, when people renew their loge seats and start worrying about FL bowl trips when UK comes out of the gate 3-1 or whatever, remember that in no small way you're part of the problem. You're a mark- we're all marks- and nothing will change unless there are consequences for the powers that be.

In other words- you're dead to me, UK football.

The LSU AD just said Les Miles is staying. If that's true, he should've said that a week ago.
If it was Mitch he would have just said, "Doooiks Scoooby!!!"

Seriously, Brady is the dumbest person in gyero and that's saying something. Coaches across the country are getting these ridiculous contracts. This isn't something special at UK. **** look at Tom Crean and he's at a place you can actually win. We want a commitment to football but we also want to bargain burn our head coach. That stuff was put in for recruiting.

So do us a favor. Pick your computer up and throw it in a dumpster then become a mid ten st fan and leave us alone.

GD, you're a dumbass. You were in here this week actually rating movies you haven't seen. You are actually using Tom Crean's contract to justify that disaster of a contract? You are constantly backing the stupid touching AD. You're acting as if you know a GD thing about FB. You don't know dick about it. You know Ed Hardy t-shirts and yo-yo dieting. Go gobble up more of Mitch's nonsense and while you are at it go get slapped by Matt again.

Ok buddy. You're done here. See ya. Long overdue, as you're universally the worst poster the thread including chief.

Brady, I know it hurts when you find out Santa Clause isn't real. It's okay, we understand your pain and confusion. But you need to understand, UK football as a winning program is a fiction you've dreamed up in your head. It's not real life, and the sooner you accept it, the sooner you can begin living again.

Honestly, at this point, we should just go bat-ish contrarian.

Go hire someone like that Texas HS coach that never punts, and on-side kicks every time.

I mean let's face it, we can't be any worse, and at least we'd have the excitement of being 'novel'

Embrace gonzo football, make it fun, win or lose, and at least we'd have an identity. Because actual football is never, ever, ever going to happen here...

He's more accurate.

The players try harder for him.

1 for touching 14. Negative 1 yard.

Touch me, football gods. Touch me.

I guess I better get tougher.
