Kenpom Rankings since Cal arrived -

Cal - 3, 5, 1, 67, 11, 1, 22 (current) = 15.7 Avg. or 7.2 Avg. removing worst season
K - 1, 4, 21, 6, 13, 4, 19 = 9.7 Avg. or 7.8 Avg. removing worst season
Pitino - 47, 12, 14, 1, 1, 16, 3 = 13.4 Avg. or 7.8 Avg. removing worst season
Self - 2, 2, 4, 8, 12, 14, 16 = 8.3 Avg. or 6.99 Avg. removing worst season
Izzo - 21, 46, 3, 9, 9, 15, 13 = 16.6 Avg. or 11.7 Avg. removing worst season
Ryan - 11, 8, 7, 13, 6, 3, 57 = 15.0 Avg. or 8.0 Avg. removing this (worst) season but he quit, so nah
Matta - 7, 1, 2, 7, 20, 21, 70 = 18.3 Avg. or 9.7 Avg. removing worst season

Not sure who else would make this list. But these are the main guys. Izzo started off bumpy, but has come on strong and is always dangerous in March. Matta started better, but is falling off the map. Ryan quit and he sucks, so whatever. Self has fallen off a bit, but has been incredibly consistent.

Most of the coaches on the list have an outlier terrible season, which is understandable given the state of college basketball.

K - 2 NCs, 2 FFs, 7.8 Avg., 5 Top 15 Picks
Cal - 1 NC, 4 FFs, 7.2 Avg., 13 Top 15 Picks
Pitino - 1 NC, 2 FFs, 7.8 Avg., 0 Top 15 Picks
Self - 0 NC, 1 FF, 6.99 Avg., 8 Top 15 Picks
Ryan - 2 FFs, 15.0 Avg. (quitter)
Izzo - 0 NC, 2 FFs, 11.7 Avg.
Matta - 1 FF, 9.7 Avg.

Self has obviously done the least with talent at his disposal.

What happened Riley LaChance? Was convinced he'd be a 4 year killer in the SEC, or at least a constant thorn in our side -- dude was preseason All Sec, and he's struggled pretty much all year...shooting 38% from the field.

Don't know, but it warmed my heart to see him toss up brick after brick last Saturday. I don't like his face.

-LaChance is a big time liability on D that's for sure. Can't get past his man. Dusty Hannahs also decided he was going to be the SEC great white hope this season.

-Let's be honest. Pitino has the worst coaching decision in NCAA basketball history, right? Also -> 93, 95, 97.

...and while I'm at it. The bastard lost to Marquette nixing Duke game in Knoxville. That resulted in us going to Gatlinburg rather than the game. Gatlinburg. I mean, crimeinitaly.

'95 Italy tour, Pitino meets the Pope & kisses his ring, Pope asks to kiss his but then sez oh no you dont have one yet lol

young Billy Joe Wildcat doesnt remember how the talk of the state after the '95 tourney was that Pitino was a fabulous great coach but just couldnt win the big ones in March

Wednesday Randoms:

- Just have to keep building that confidence tonight. No letdown. Hopefully, Skal does something, too. Nice little tune up for Saturday.

- Have a hard time seeing it happening, but I can't even imagine the Kansas fan meltdown if we go into the Phog and beat them.

- I like Xavier about as much as anyone this year. Nice, balanced squad.

- I'd bet a million dollars Boat has used the phrase "eatin' ain't cheatin'" before.

- I need a good snow- just one big storm, dropping 5-6" and I'll be all right.

- Finally started "Bloodlines" and I love it. I think I'd like anything with Kyle Chandler at this point. Have even warmed to his performance in the George Strait-led "Pure Country."

- My Top 5 PGs in America:

1. Dunn, Providence
2. Trimble, Maryland
3. Ferrell, Indiana
4. Ulis, UK
5. Jackson, ND

* Monte Morris would be my #6
** No, Marcus Paige isn't a college PG

- Just picked this crewneck from Homage for the lass. Their sweatshirts are so soft and comfortable.

I play the "what could have been" game in my mind all the time, but then I look at Duke, KU, and UNC. They've pissed away opportunities much more than we have. Kansas has the most, by far, losses in the title game than anyone. Hell, their 88 title was a total fluke. Then look at Duke 86, 89, 98, 99, 04, and UNC 77, 84, 94, 98, 08. And we all know that 2 of UNC's titles were gifted to them, and the last 3 were won with rampant cheating.

We've got 8 and all of those other programs don't. I like my program.

^ that shirt is awesome. ABH's buddies (Johnny & Cara) were both rocking the Tee last trip up there. First time I'd seen it, but I want it.

-Danny from Bloodline is such an awesome character. Can't wait for Season 2.

-Yogi is *really* good, he's so damn bouncy & fast with the ball. Still has that 'hero' tendency in late game situations though...he's definitely a point guard, but he's more of an Isaiah Thomas scorer type to me. 30 points, 1 assist. Although his assist numbers are way up & really impressive this year...but most of them are simple dishes to their peremiter bombers, who are as good as anyone in the country.

Give me Ulis by a nose this season, and by a longshot on a really good team.

-Bryant is the guy who's really impressed me. Not sure how his low-to-the-floor game will translate to the NBA, but if he comes back he will dominate next year. His arms are so long he can pretty much dunk without jumping.

He's shooting 72% from the field (leads NCAA). That's pretty efficient.

That's classic Grandfather apparel, love it.

Still, I've got nothing for a regular "sweatshirt" these days, would feel like a fool wearing one. JMO

So if an insurance company tries to deny your claim because it was an "Act of God," and you counter that you are an atheist and do not believe in God. Is it on them to prove there is a God?

- Love the socks- especially the blues- just not sure when/how I'd wear them as a 36-year-old.

- Those Coach K Sportscenter commercials are awful.

Chili contest this week. Got my first batch going last night. Initial taste is on point.:fire::fire::fire:

I made smoked chili for the first time Sunday afternoon. I was going to use BBdK's recipe, but thought it would be way too hot for anyone other than me and the wife. I looked up a recipe on the international chili society's website and modified it a bit. Turned out incredible.

Don't imagine you can go wrong with any smoked chili recipe, ****'s just unreal...but mine isn't CRAZY hot, just nice hot.

Cut back to one (no zero) Jalapeno, or remove seeds, and you'd be fine...anyways, I've got the recipe saved in multiple spots now, can't imagine I'll ever use another one.

Can only dream of Cal ever being on a SC commercial and the outrage from opposing fan bases.

A classic phone convo between Cal and WWW ending with back stage dancing at a Drake concert would suffice.

Would prob be just enough to cause a few strokes in the 502.

I mean there was that year we had our own weekly television show on ESPN showing everything our players get to see and do. And then about five times a year an elite recruit makes it official on the U. Our games against Auburn and Missouri regularly push two ranked teams over to ESPN2. The entire Calipari era has been one big infomercial on the worldwide leader.
