Tennis rant:

Still find it amusing that Russian tennis players do not get their country name on the tv scoreboard. Every other player from every other country on earth gets it. They have nothing to do with Russia and Ukraine. Tennis sure is showing Putin who the boss is.

Also, the apology after a net court point win is the absolute dumbest unwritten rule in all of sports. I have never seen a player apologize for winning a point when the opponent hit the net and the ball went out. And none of them are sorry it happened if it means they won the point. Stop the outrage.

And Ostopenko is just pissed she lost the match. Not a lot of class, but simply pissed off. Media will turn her into a member of the KKK before this is over. But yea, just STFU and go take a shower.

**HOT TAKE**

since there’s nothing going on in here and I’ve another couple hours at the gym…

Anyone without ties to Notre Dame but says they are big fans of ND because they’re Catholic are on some bulls**t. You like them because they’ve had decades of success and tradition. You’re a barely practicing Catholic as is, but when it comes to the Fightin’ Irish, religion just really pulls at your heart strings, eh?

Not a touching one of you says the same about Boston College, Loyola Marymount, De Paul, etc etc etc.

Just say I’m a bandwagon fan that has next to zero actual connection to the university but I like a reason to pull for them at convenient times.

- Enough’s enough- it’s football szn. Time for GYERO to regain some form. I want my daughters to be able to post here in 17-18 years, maybe meet their husbands Sloot/B$-style and I’m beginning to have my doubts.

- I know being a Kentucky football fan is a chore at best but can you imagine being a Illinois or Arkansas or *insert name* fan where you have nothing to hang your hat on? Thank God for Adolph Rupp and Kentucky basketball.

- Wayne Dougan is outstanding. I think I could listen to that dude opine on anything. Cracks me up.

- So a co-worker’s aunt in rural Ohio had a young golden retriever boy show up at her house. Apparently poor boy had been running around the area for weeks. Welp, I now have a second dog. Name is Rupp - although I would have preferred Cawood. He’s great. Tad rambunctious but a total sweetheart. Probably about a year old.

- Absolutely love reading but I just don’t have time right now. Just bought a Springsteen bio. Have Dave Grohl bio on the list too.

- Favorite US States Besides Kentucky:

1. Maine
2. Virginia
3. California
4. Colorado
5. Georgia

HM: North Carolina, South Carolina, Vermont, Tennessee, Michigan

have an awesome picture saved on my phone which I would like to set as my “avatar,” or “profile pic,” as it were. It is most appropriate for the beginning of football season. However, when I try to set this photo/file as my avatar, I get a long pause and an “oops” message. My question — is this just On3 aids, or am I doing something technically wrong?

Earl Pitts? Gilbert Gnarley? Sports or Consequences. Dad used to take me to the studio growing up to watch Sports or Consequences live with Gary and the guys. Gary was an absolute legend. The glory days of AM Radio

Football Eve thoughts

For all the pissing and moaning, I think we can field a decent squad. A handful of feasible things need to happen. None of them require a miraculous breakout star or anything like that.

1. OL needs to return to competency. Been a **** sandwich for 3 straight seasons. I think we picked up some nice pieces from the portal, but not sure about Jager or the depth.
2. Calzada just needs to be a solid game manager. Make the easy throws, stay ahead of the chains, hit checkdowns, know when to throw it away, when to slide, when to run out of bounds, when to take a sack, limit turnovers. Should be doable stuff for the 37 year old vet.
3. Lean on the run game. McGowan and Dowdell need to be Boom-and-Benny-lite. Dynamic, explosive first half back, paired with a powerful second half back to take advantage of tired defenses. Getting Wilcox out of the doghouse would be nice.
4. Front 7 have to be able to stop the run. Can't get gashed. I like the makeup of our DLine. Afari and Rayner have speed, but not sure about the run stopping ability. Greene is a wild card. We have length, athleticism and experience in the backfield and should be solid there.
5. Discipline. Win the penalty battle, avoid special teams disasters, break even on turnovers.

The problem is our top 5 schedule. Tough road. 3 non-cons that we should beat. Next tier is UL and Vandy. We have more talent, but they have more continuity and probably better culture at the moment (TBD). Next tier is Florida, South Carolina, Auburn and Ole Miss. Keep our heads on straight and we can be competitive and maybe sneak up on one or two. UT, UT and UGA will likely smoke us.

Picks to click: OL, McGowan, Rodriguez, Gusta, Humphrey-Grace, Rayner, Lovett, Hardaway

Like Bob and Tom, I thought Burbank and his characters were awful. Both those shows had a far reach. So, obviously, had their audience.
It does remind me, that when I travel, and have to listen to local radio, there are way too many morning shows that are "comedy" driven. There are not enough funny people in the world to support that many shows. Awful.

I'm wait and see on Arch Manning. Everyone anointing him without a full body of work. Lot of talk on the top teams having unproven QB's. Could be chaos to start the year.

Notre Dame is getting a free pass in this BCS. Controls their schedule. Does not have to share revenue. If they can't navigate their way to 10 wins every year...

Packers won that trade.

Bless you and your enthusiasm Wildcat friend. My tank is on empty. My only thought put into college football so far this year is trying to determine who the 3 permanent rivals for all the SEC schools will be. Flipped to the Nebraska-Cincy game a few times last night but there was no sustained interest on my part. Don't even feel like gambling. Perhaps I will wake up tomorrow morning cured.

I had surgery on my wouned fingers today. They gave me fentanyl. ALL IN!!!!!!!!
I once knocked a guy out cold throwing a softball from the outfield to second base. He didn’t get his glove up in time and it hit him right between the eyes. People said that he had a knot between his eyes for a long time afterwards. Beer was involved.
Another time, I was playing Co-Ed, and saw a lady get her jaw broken by a throw in from the outfield by her HS age son, because she didn’t get her glove up in time.
I once dislocated my shoulder throwing a softball. (previous injury).
I really haven’t played a ton of softball TBH. Contrary to what Cole is saying, YOU CAN GET HURT PLAYING SOFTBALL.

Was watching Army v Tarleton St. The offense awakens my broken synapses from the CurryEra Elliot Uzelac shítfest PTSD I suffered. The I Bone with wrinkles.

Im flying both my UK flags. I’m all in. The next 14 weekends I’m busy.

wife and kid are at Hershey Park, I migrated to the couches on my back deck drinking Weller 12 and listening to deep grooves. Doggie at my feet.

While I did get injured the dumbest way possible, what scares me the most is running to first on a groundball to the left side of the infield. Dudes are coming up throwing 100 mph without a lick of an idea where the ball is going. Nothing like taking a shot to the dome by a SS who had one sail on him.

Pretty much where I am. My wife asked me if I wanted to watch any games tonight, ehhhh, I have little enthusiasm yet for this season, lowest I've felt since Curry years and maybe ever. Saw a headline that some publication said the UK fanbase was the "most downbeat" among the football Power conferences. Sounds right to me.

I love all UK sports and I'm one of those fans who love football every bit as much as basketball. It's like having two kids where one excels at everything, is popular and then the other who has to work harder, makes a lot of mistakes butthey just don't weren't blessed with the same gifts as the other but when they have their successes, you swell with as much pride as when the other does something exceptional again.

I get pissed off with the basketball only people but right now I feel like a parent with a kid going back to rehab and wondering WTF are we even doing, is it ever going to get better?

Pretty cool chat in here so I thought I'd drop in and say hey. I'm a big time Rockets fan and I've been looking forward to this game all off-season. I feel pretty confident that Coach Candle is going to have our guys ready to come out of the gate and firing on all cylinders.

I know it's not like playing an actual respected SEC team, but it'll still be a big win for our group and will set the table for the rest of the season. I just don't think UK will have any answer for what Gleason can do out there, but good luck "y'all" haha.

Up until this morning, I spent this whole time thinking we were playing the Mud Hens tomorrow. 😬
Why is Toledo's mascot a rocket? Granted I know nothing about Toledo, but that place seems so boring that even trying to learn anything about it is impossible.

* Caught Louis CK in Louisville on Thursday. Jim Norton was a surprise opener. I was never a fan of Jim Norton (couldn't stand him, tbh) and would have been been annoyed had I known he was the opener before the show.

He killed. So did Louis. You could tell Louis was working on newer material in a smaller town but overall it felt like seeing one of the greats at his absolute zenith.

* I won't spoil the joke, but Jim Norton does a long bit about his trans wife that includes a throwaway punchline about he didn't pay $100k in immigration attorney fees to have a wife with a penis smaller than his.

Somehow I feel like Toledo naming its football team "the Rockets" is similar to Jim Norton paying 6 figures for a wife with a big hog.

-Love how Norton is so open with all that. Goes back to the sage words that if you call yourself out it takes the power away from others. “I already said it, whytf would I care if you do too?”

-The University of Toledo Rockets got their name in 1923 when a student worker, impressed by the team's performance in a game against Carnegie Tech, suggested "Skyrockets" to a group of Pittsburgh sportswriters who were asking for a nickname. A sportswriter shortened it to "Rockets," and the name stuck, becoming the official nickname for the university's sports teams.

I mean, who WOULDN’T be impressed with a win over Carnegie Tech?

Juxtaposed to them talking tough is the fact the city is nicknamed “Glass City” so I hope we break these MFers’ season hopes.

-And yeah what’re the odds of a random
Mac team fan finding their way to GYERO in the old format. No football board, just straight to the most consistent yet obscure thread in the whole place?

Someone has been watching or talking… don’t let me take you to Fist City sir.

-I’ll be watching The Roses at the theater with my “Florida Mom”/family friend during the game so hopefully when I check the score there’s no fretting, surely. Pound these fools Stoops.

I'll tell you what I don't miss, having to wait until Labor Day to play your biggest rival when all of the hype and juice is on Saturday.

Beat Toledo, redeem this program and get **** right please.
