You know those resturaunts in Richmond that HR6 says don't exist? The ones that are not there when you go to the Siegle Center for the basketball championships?

Well, our daughter and her husband ate at Can Can's in Carytown a few days ago. They were super impressed. Everything sounded delicious to me except the damn snails. No way, Jose!

I ate them only one time, about 30 years ago. I don't know if it was the snails, or my share of the seven bottles of Liebfraumilch. But one of them made me pretty ill. (I always blamed the escargot).

I had escargot exactly once in my life as well. I drank 6 Heinekins beforehand. The escargot still tasted terrible. I was 19 at the time, so 32 years ago.

Depends on the freshness and the chef. Fresh escargot in butter and garlic sauce can be quite delectable. A much softer and palatable mussel, if you need something to make an analogy with. Savored, fresh, well cooked and paired with a nice white is a unique experience, as many food explorations should be.

I am a foodie and have traveled the world so my experiences differ. I like to try different things. If done properly, escargot can be quite nice but I also understand how you could have run into an over done loogie that didn't work out. I would recommend searching for a place known for good escargot and trying again but I fully understand reluctance. For example, I hate cous-cous. The texture turns me off no matter how many times I've tried it but I never give up on trying.

Watch out for bad weather tonight, Shaunty and I agree on something else. Cous-cous is vile, because of the texture.

I love cous-cous, but I can't stand Twizzlers because of the texture

Textures and tastes are very curious things. Also, give 2 people the same medication and the results can vary so widely.
Agree. Give pops and Xanax and he's in la-la land but could be awake for the next 48 hours. Give hm a glass of milk and a cookie and he's out like a light. He hates cous-cous either way.
