I loved Sha as a player

I loved Sha as a player and was thrilled at his tournament run at St. Peter's.When he came to the Hall I had visions of his leading the Pirates to a great future, not immediately but in a reasonable amount of time. Last season created not only disappointment ,but also doubts. It is well established that the Hall was way behind in the funding of the program, but there were persistent signs that Sha either does not have an offensive plan that recognizes how the game has changed or believes that pure defense can lead to the goals he has shared.
I still support Sha, but it is obvious that he needs help on the offensive part of the game.It is time to bring in a seasoned offensive assistant and for Sha to turn over the responsibility for the offensive strategy. Budd would be fabulous if he had a real inside presence and some genuine outside shooters. It is time for Sha to set aside some of his stubbornness and build a staff that challenges him. In my career I have worked with dozens of CEO'S, and the best ones were those that cultivated challenge by their staffs,

Very sensible comments...I fear they will not be heard where they need to be heard.

Good leaders grow and adapt as they mature in their position...it remains to be seen if Sha is indeed a good leader...

Leadership can evolve. And must to be effective.

The school had no idea what the heck it was doing with NIL and roster building. Neither did Sha. That seems to have improved.

This year he’s built a team that can compete with a very good defense. But clearly the offense is holding back that defense to such an extent we’re blowing a golden opportunity. Even the games against the top BE teams were squandered because of this offense. So perhaps is the next level of growth bc the approach needs to change. We’ll see.

Was anyone here an early supporter of PJ? I know I was not. Just curious.

The offense has always been an issue with Sha's teams. But 2 plays that were the killers imo were the corner three with rivera helping down low and giving his man as much time as he wanted to get off his shot, and then the exact same thing happening on the next play. They were just brutally bad decisions by a player. John Allen vs ND anyone.

Those 6 points and missed front ends by Adam and AJ killed our chances. We were down 4, then down 10 in a flash and saying bye bye season.

How about starting the game on fire from three and completely abandoning it because it's "fool's gold"?

We were also up 6 early in the 2h, forced a shot clock violation, and then just completely forgot how to play offense. Something happens to these guys when the going gets too good. I'm not sure why it happens, but every game feels like a replay of the last one. I'd like to think that's not all on our coach, but watching him milk the clock with way too much time left against both St. John's and Creighton tells me he has something to do with it. Or we just aren't good enough to beat DePaul this year. I don't know. Sucks.

And the Big East was the best game in town. That plus ESPN was in its infancy and the two greatly benefited by their symbiotic relationship.

Back then Big Monday was must see. Now everyone is on TV and the glamor has lost its luster.

PJ also knew what he was doing & built the program his way.

There is definitely something going on with the the program & its supporters. If we don’t get a good crowd tonight for a 6Pm Saturday game the administration should be very concerned. Such bad optics seeing so many empty seats for a major conference team on a recurring basis.

i am talking style of play.
I was sure PJ would fail miserably fyi. I thought the chances that we ever looked like we belonged were microscopic.

I am just wondering if I am the only guy who reads the early yrs of a coach badly. Reminds me to not take nyself so seriously and that being wrong is actually possible.... lol.

One guy I had down was bg, who was imo the mist widely admired hire ever made since the internet was born.

As disappointed as we might and deserve to be, the team is currently in 4th place all alone. (After being picked last).

The points about what Sha needs to do are spot on. But he’s probably going to win 20+ games this year which is not chopped liver.

Let's see what they can do. Break them down to build them up. I have low expectations so it can only be good from this point forward.

As third leg of the initial foundation was Syracuse and the Carrier Dome. In fact, to keep Syracuse and the Dome in the BE it was almost torn apart (actually, it was) by commissioners' over-the-top efforts to keep Syracuse (football) from leaving.

That was a team with heart and my all-time favorite Seton Hall squad.

He's doing fine. 19-9 with the worst roster in the Big East. If he can upset Connecticut and St. John's, Seton Hall will be in the tournament. If he can split those games and win a couple of games in the BET, there is still a solid chance that SHU makes the tournament.

Different era because of the transfer portal it’s impossible to compare. But Guys like Greene and Morton were getting better at the end of each year than where they started the year. When I look at number of guys on this team, I’m like damn that guy was playing better ball in November than he is now. I think that’s the part that’s frustrating. NC State and USC are definitely 2 of the better teams we faced all year, win or lose we played good games. Against these horseshit teams in the big east win or lose we look like crap. It’s not enjoyable basketball. In fairness to the students I can see why they don’t show up. I wish they had more school spirit, but I get not wanting to watch paint dry.

It’s call “Nil Bad”. The students and the players now have zero in common, whereas in the past, they basically were equals amongst equals with a similar goal - represent & support SH and get that SH degree. Now these “student athletes” are “semi pros” who, for the most part, are short term NIL employees. 😰

Off the court, the school seems to have found their way with the money to at least keep us NCAAT competitive. We’ll see. Can we retain players? There are some good players on this team.

On the court, the issues are clear where we need to improve after 4 seasons. Can you imagine if we had average offense? But we don’t for a reason and that needs to be addressed. This is consecutive seasons of this with totally different rosters too.

Good post. But one criticism.

You need to change your icon to RangersYankeesJetsKnicks.
