I loved Sha as a player and was thrilled at his tournament run at St. Peter's.When he came to the Hall I had visions of his leading the Pirates to a great future, not immediately but in a reasonable amount of time. Last season created not only disappointment ,but also doubts. It is well established that the Hall was way behind in the funding of the program, but there were persistent signs that Sha either does not have an offensive plan that recognizes how the game has changed or believes that pure defense can lead to the goals he has shared.
I still support Sha, but it is obvious that he needs help on the offensive part of the game.It is time to bring in a seasoned offensive assistant and for Sha to turn over the responsibility for the offensive strategy. Budd would be fabulous if he had a real inside presence and some genuine outside shooters. It is time for Sha to set aside some of his stubbornness and build a staff that challenges him. In my career I have worked with dozens of CEO'S, and the best ones were those that cultivated challenge by their staffs,
