is it me or is Momma Nkemdiche trying to become a superstar out of this...

Agree DS

She's more into the attention than he is. Unreal. Never seen a mother act so unprofessional in my life, especially considering she's an African dignitary of some sort

It does to me.

It sounds like there is no way in hell that she wants her kid at Clemson. She says that she hasn't visited Clemson so she knows nothing about it, but she also says that she hasn't visited Bama but loves it. (I believe I read that.)

I fully expect Nkemdiche to flip to the Rebels. Mama is going to be a tough sell for Dabo and it sounds like Bama is the only team that could make a change. There is no doubt that he can be an impact player from day 1, but it's weird that he would want to go to Ole Miss. I know his brother goes there, but I would say the same thing if he came to MSU. He has offers from everywhere in America and he will possibly select Ole Miss. I hope his dad likes UMC.

Nigeria, huh?

Mrs. Dear Ma'am Nkemdiche,

I hope this transmittal finds you most well. As you know, my organisation, the REC, influences the distribution of some $30MM (USD) annually.

I would be most happy for you to be the recipient of some of these funds.

It definitely feels that way. The message I'm receiving here is:
1. My number one priority is not to be inconvenienced.
2. How dare people insinuate my child should make his own decision.

Meanwhile, how has Dabo not attempted to contact her outside of one letter through her son? I know there's rules on calls and visits that would make contacting her that way a limited proposition, but I'm certain they could've bombarded her with mail by now.

Reminds me of ...

a lot of Mitch Mustain's mom after Mitch was benched. That didn't end well. Makes one wonder if OM gets a new 'former' HS coach in the deal.

http://www.arkansassports360.com/86...azorbacks-first-20-sec-years-the-springdale-5

Most every Razorback fan knew about the Springdale 5 before they even began their senior high school season. Florida commitments Damian Willams and Ben Cleveland, Notre Dame commitment Bartley Webb, and Arkansas commitments Andrew Norman and Mitch Mustain, a quarterback listed among the top players in the country, headlined one of the most successful teams in state history.
The promise of Mustain kept Arkansas fans hopeful during the dreadful 2005 season while Springdale dominated every team it faced. But after Springdale won the state championship, Mustain decommitted from Arkansas, causing a panic among the Razorback faithful.

Then-coach Houston Nutt hired Springdale Coach Gus Malzahn as his offensive coordinator to help boost the offense. Malzahn’s hurry-up-no-huddle system had been extraordinarily successful, and the hope was that it would work on the college level. It also helped Mustain, Williams, and Cleveland commit to Arkansas just before signing day. The hype grew exponentially when Mustain and Williams connected on a long drive to score a touchdown late in Arkansas’ blowout loss to USC, then Mustain connected with Cleveland on a game-winning throw against Alabama weeks later.

Then everything unraveled. Nutt pulled Mustain in favor of Casey Dick after Mustain threw an interception against South Carolina. Williams transferred to USC in December, with Mustain following after the spring. Malzahn left Arkansas for the same position at Tulsa. Eventually Malzahn, who is now head coach at Arkansas State, would leave for Auburn where he had success recruiting Arkansas and helped the Tigers to a 2010 national title season.

It appears Ole Miss struck gold when they got his brother on campus. Not only

is he a good player but the mom is going to make Robert go to Ole Miss to play with him, that is
pretty obvious. I would imagine Bama and Clemson are trying to figure out how they get Daniel to transfer
without causing a complete **** storm. I don't think Daniel will want to transfer as he is doing well at Ole Miss
and appears to be very happy there. Some times you get lucky and it looks like this is one of those times.

I love the first thing she said when asked why she liked Alabama so much:

"Alabama is a good football team."

If that doesn't sum up 80% of their fan base, I don't know what does.

But I still have a weird feeling that he will end up at Ole Miss. I'm kinda blown away how they are so appealing to guys like Nkemdiche, Ward, and CJ when the top schools in the country are offering them. But in a way, you could say the same about guys like Quay and Autry signing with us.

Yeah. I better not see another Ole Miss fan talking about package deals....

....because this is the biggest one there is. I'm sure they are a big fan of them right now. But I'll give them some leeway, Denzel is a pretty good player. Not sure how highly recruited he was, because I think Ole Miss got him because of grades or something. And Nutt did it, not Freeze.

No doubt she is trying to get her 15 minutes in out of this and this screams train wreck. Both Roberto and the mama love the lime light. And - he is going to Ole Miss. No doubt.

You beat me to it. When I first saw her, that line from The Players Club popped into my head (which I posted earlier). John Amos in drag!

Ward wouldn't be at olemiss if the bears hadn't held a scholarship over his brothers head and CJ would be in 'vegas if we had matched their offer.

I don't get that impression at all.

She's a mother who lives in a different country from her sons. She wants to see them play together because she knew that it brought them a lot of joy in high school. AND, she doesn't have a lot of free time to see her family.

If her youngest son plays in South Carolina, and her oldest son plays in Mississippi then she won't be able to spend as much time with either of them when she gets to see them.

She's also said that she hasn't pressured her son to choose a school, but that her desire is to see them play together.

As a State fan, it SUCKS that TSUN is benefitting from Mama's preferences, but it is what it is. I don't think she's seeking out the limelight or anything. She's just answering honestly when asked the questions put to her.

It'd be like if my two daughters were offered soccer scholarships to differing Nigerian colleges that were 10+ hours apart by car. If some Nigerian reporter asked me what my preference would be for my youngest's decision I'd say the same thing - I want them to play together so that I can see them both more often. I wouldn't give a rip about how much of their lives middle-aged Nigerian men invested in soccer recruiting, I'd just want my kids to play together.

I agree. The CJ situation seemed very obvious but there....

....was no real way to say any cheating happened. Guy could have really just had a change of heart.

With Ward, he committed through a coaching change, which seems to never happen. If he signed with Ole Miss because he genuinely loves the University of Mississippi, then I applaud him. But I doubt that happened, since it so rarely does in this day an age. The fact that he signed with them, for a coach he couldn't possibly know very well, when the best programs in the country wanted him, shows something even more obvious than the CJ situation.

Some kids in MS just have no loyalty to the State of Mississippi, much less which instate school they go to if they choose to stay at home.

It just seems like she is quoted or interviewed every week. I don't have a problem with her answers. It's the fact she seems to love her name in the paper too.

That's pressuring her son. She is trying to make it seem like she isn't, but just talking to him about it and giving her preferences to both the media and to her son is putting pressure on him to attend the same school as his brother.

How is Clemson "going out of her way"? It's only 100 miles from his HS in GA.

Ridiculous...

...college football recruiting has gotten so stupid, they now interview the mother? College football recruiting is disintegrating into American Idol. Let's interview mommy after her son is relegated to spot duty his senior year, or after his 3rd DUI arrest before his sophmore season. That's when the pearls of wisdom should really start flowing.

Hey, agree ...

there are 'changes of heart' and it happens each and every year. BUT, when you add up all things said in interviews, his committment to his 'lifelong' favorite team, 'actively' recruiting other MS players, the way he was treated on his visit to OM and his 'new ride' when he showed up in Oxford it adds up to MORE than a 'change of heart.'

Whoever reads that and says she is not pressuring him is an 17'ing idiot. Let me change the conversation just a little bit:

Honey, I would love to have sex with you. I mean, you know if it does not happen, it's cool. Not to say that I don't want it to happen. I am just saying, last time we had sex it was magical and I just want to feel that again. So you know, if you don't want to, you don't have to. I'm just saying I really want to.

Yes, OM gets "lucky" at lot it seems. From adopting Michael Oher to getting Channing Ward's brother on their team before Channing's recruitment and to now doing the same thing with RK, there definitely seems to be a pattern here. Method to the madness if you ask me. If I remember right there was even a family member of Tobias Singleton involved with the football program somehow that had a big influence on him. And apparently when they can't get a close relative on the team in front of a big time recruit making a decision then the next step is finding the recruit's parent a nice, cushy job somewhere. Apparently our antiquated strategy of hoping a recruit actually picks our program because he likes it the best leaves much to be desired.
