I guess we went to a different game. When Paul missed the free throws to make us about 3-14 I heard a few exasperated boos that one time. That's it. The students were in their seats wearing black as soon as the gates opened and the crowd was as jacked as I can remember well before tipoff. The team we have now is one of the worst offensive teams I can remember at Rutgers.
Of course, I sit in the 100's not up in the 200's where the press is located. And we all know, we folks in the 100s, just sit on our hands and be quiet so maybe it's a little different upstairs.
Jerry is bipolar when it comes to his takes on crowds and fanbases. Good point above his tired takes on "hysterical" message board posters like that's something unique and isn't the same everyone in the world where anyone cares about a program. He often goes way, way overboard (at least in his tweets) on the positive side, talking about how manic the atmosphere often is in games he attends. Then, on the flip side, this nonsense. An entire article about how crappy the Rutgers fans are. This is the most patient fanbase in the world when it comes to bad basketball and for anyone not actually there they think we are like Eagles fans with catcalls and boos raining down on college players. Freaking ridiculous. I'm pretty much the board defender and apologist for the sportswriters who cover this university's team but this is so far off the mark, I can't even tell you.
