Against the teams we've played thus far, we had numerous players from last years team who could score by attacking the rim.Dont know if its just my imagination but it seems tome we have at least 5 guys who can drive to hoop and get off at least a decent shot. We had nothing like that last years except maybe Coleman
Besides Coleman, in your opinion who were they?Against the teams we've played thus far, we had numerous players from last years team who could score by attacking the rim.
Last year’s team was also 1-2 at this pointAgainst the teams we've played thus far, we had numerous players from last years team who could score by attacking the rim.
Guys that could get buckets against these teams we've played so far besides Coleman? Wusu and Jenkins. Prince at times against that level of competition as a small ball 4. Dual/Scotty M had the ability to even if they didn't know how to use it yet. Even "Baby Mamu" was at his best against teams like we've played so far.Besides Coleman, in your opinion who were they?
Yes we are better this year. The first post I said about yesterdays game was that at minimum it looks like the ability to score points won't be anywhere near the struggle it was last season game-in, game out. That's a good thing.Last year’s team was also 1-2 at this point
I am in no way defending last year’s team.Last year’s team was also 1-2 at this point
This is a better defensive group than last year which almost automatically makes it a better offensive group. If they can continue to turn teams over, they should have opportunities to score easy baskets.Yes we are better this year. Um no. Definitely not. Apparently you forgot how Wusu would put his head down, barrel straight to the hoop without making a move and then heave up a prayer that never came close.Against the teams we've played thus far, we had numerous players from last years team who could score by attacking the rim.
You have to look at plenty of others from years past.@Halldan is this the weakest SHU non conference schedule you’ve ever seen?
Agree about Wusu. Against this type of competition he could get to the basket and score. I honestly forgot about Jenkins. Not sure I agree about the others but then again I’m not about to argue whether or not any player can score against terrible competition.Guys that could get buckets against these teams we've played so far besides Coleman? Perhaps. Jury out for me on that so far because of the competition. I love, emphasize love, pressing with this group. I was one of the ones on here last year imploring and begging Sha to press more, though I understand there were reasons he didn't that Sha is qualified to assess and I am not as a fan. Our 5s will be better defensively, I'm comfortable saying, because a corpse would be better defensively at that spot than what we rolled out last year. Everything else we will see. This is a better defensive group than last year which almost automatically makes it a better offensive group. Wusu played minutes for 5 years in the Big East. Including for one team that was squarely on the bubble and another that was not far off from the bubble. I'm well, well aware of his flaws and limitations. But Wusu last year would have been a very good player in the MAAC or NEC. Prior years too.Um no. Definitely not. Apparently you forgot how Wusu would put his head down, barrel straight to the hoop without making a move and then heave up a prayer that never came close.
It's certainly up there. But coming off last season Holloway had no choice. But I hope to never see it again. Quality teams, of which we might or might not be, get little from games like this.@Halldan is this the weakest SHU non conference schedule you’ve ever seen?
I think the irony in all off this is last year’s team loses to Fordham and Hofstra with Isaiah Coleman going a combined 4-16 in the two games.Besides Coleman, in your opinion who were they?
Him and Aligbe would be the 9th and 10th players on this roster. Getting minutes on last years horrendous team is not a good quality..Wusu played minutes for 5 years in the Big East. Prince, I agree he would be down in the rotation from what I’ve seen.Him and Aligbe would be the 9th and 10th players on this roster. Getting minutes on last years horrendous team is not a good quality..
I agree…Wusu is being severely disrespected here. He is not going down as a Pirate great, but geez talk about being taken out of context.Prince, I agree he would be down in the rotation from what I’ve seen.
Wusu - not a chance. And that’s not to overly pump him up as a player. But he started on a Big East team that won 25 games and played minutes his entire career
This.I agree…Wusu is being severely disrespected here. He is not going down as a Pirate great, but geez talk about being taken out of context.
Wusu is a defensive minded SF who played 5 season in the BE. Last year he was asked to play PG or primary ball handler way too often. Hence his performance struggled because that is NOT who he is.
When asked to play the proper role for the Pirates in 2023-24, he did admirably well.
His shooting splits were not to the standard we wanted, but as the 4th / 5th scoring option. Averaged 8 ppg / 5 rebounds/ 2 assists / 1.6 steals. Started 37 out of 37 games for a team that won 25 games. And was normally given one of the tougher defensive assignments night in and night out.
While at SJU in his sophomore/ junior years he shot 38% / 36% respectively from three. That’s who we thought we were getting in that regard. But make no mistake about it, he did put up those numbers for a BE team.
Over the first 4 seasons of his collegiate career he finished with over 1000 points scored. I challenge you to go look up how many Seton Hall players have accomplished that.
Last year left a real bad taste in everyone’s mouth, but Wusu was a competent BE player and at this point in time everyone on this roster has a ways to go to prove that themselves.
Scott M? Get real. This is what happens when you play 3 teams like we’ve played, lol. Dual, Scott M, Wusu and Jenkins would all see minutes on this team from what I’ve seen. The 4s/5s we’ve had, not so much, no disrespect to Baby Jokic or Baby Mamu.
