Sounds like Sha reading from the Living Willard Unfair scheduling playbook.
And no doubt if schedules had been reversed we would have heard how unfair it was that we went cold with a week off while they were able to remain game-ready with an extra matchup.

Not sure what his gripe about the schedule is. You had a week in between games lol. I know you have to have 3 days off for Xmas now, but you had 4 days to prepare and travel to Marq (and play the worst team in the BE)

I think that was precisely his point: That Marquette got more time because Seton Hall played Villanova on 12/23 then the 3 day break, while Marquette had not played since 12/20 and had double the time to prepare.

Why they get so upset about these things is beyond me, but a lot of coaches rant and rave about this stuff.

That doesn’t seem like the sort of thing worth griping about, but I guess he picked up more than we realize from the guy these TV crews insist on calling his mentor.

It does get tiring. Im sure weve played a team or will play a team who has 4 days off and we have 7-10

Every coach has had a complaint about the schedule at some point. That is what coaches do. A really nice article by Carino explaining the way the game went and how the players and coach performed.

Interesting that our press was not doing much in the first half and I thought MU's press was better.

Shaka made a big mistake by slowing down his attack with 6 minutes to go and having his team take their foot off the pedal to work the clock. That backfired as it took them out of their offensive rhythm! That plus SHU being able to ramp up the pressure in the waning minutes turned the tide.

I was a little shocked at how Sha went after his assistant coach over the ball out of bounds appeal. From the TV angle we had it was obvious it was off SHU but where the coaches were positioned, I could see how they thought it was off Marquette and asked to a check of the play. There was NO need to berate a coach over that call. Very poor to do it on TV too! Disrespectful and Sha should apologize!

We’re 12-2, 2-1 and we’re upset with Sha complaining about the schedule and yelling at his coaches. They’re big boys and have been with him for a long time. Yhey know the deal. And scheduling is everything to these coaches. They control it on the OOC but can’t in conference. That’s why every coach complains about the schedule. And yes 10 days off compared to four days to prepare then travel half way across the country is not easy.

Marq didn’t have 10 days off if we only had 4 lol. If you’re counting Xmas break they had 7 days off and we had 4. No reason to complain about that especially when you’re playing the worst team in the league lol. I’d rather that than if it were UConn or StJ

A little bit of a cursory analysis on your part.

We had to play Nova on the 23rd.
Team is off 2.5 days for Christmas
We come back and travel to Marquette.
So, we had to prepare for a huge game with Nova and then prepare for a huge away game at Marquette. Probably 1 to 2 full practice days after Nova.

Marquette stayed home for 10 days and had to prepare for us only since their last game at Creighton on 12/20.

No wonder people were scared by the Vegas line.

Your math isn’t adding up.
The NCAA has made it mandatory for teams to have 3 days off for Xmas break.
Dec 23 - Game
Dec 24-26 off
Dec 27-29 practice
Dec 30 - walkthrough & game

Did he need more than 3 days to prepare for the worst team in the conference?

There is a clear schedule advantage and it was pointed out. Do you disagree it is an advantage to Marquette?

Marquette

12/20 game at Creighton

Screw those comments. WGAS. Pirates were heroic when needed. 2 subs make critical contributions and our ft shooting was major.

There are 11 teams in the league, several of which share arena space, and a TV calendar to juggle. There are going to be a couple of tough scheduling items for each team each year. Complaining about that is like complaining about the water being too wet.

I disagree. You need to speak up, particularly when you are Seton Hall, so that the next time it is at least a consideration. He commented coming up to the game and after in terms of how proud he was of the win. Maybe nothing changes because of all the legitimate issues you raise, but you need raise it if you want your perspective considered.

Did they have a 10 minute bus ride to get to Wisconsin?

Coaches complain. They all do. So what?

To be fair it did appear to hit his foot before going out of bounds but Refs didn't see enough to overturn

Total nonsense about they have iPad and could have checked! Sha had to call a timeout immediately to stop play and say he was challenging the call. There was NO time to check an iPad which by the way no one on the coaching staff had out while the game was going on!

Glenn Mosley is one of my all time favorite big men and great to see Carino had listed him among the top all time rebounders in a single game. Glenn listed 4 times. Also interesting Nick the Quick who was only 6'3" or 4" listed among the centers when he was also one of the leading scorers in the country at the time:

34: Walter Dukes vs. Kings, 1952

32: Nick Werkman vs. Boston College, 1963

31: Walter Dukes vs. Loyola (Md.), 1952

30: Nick Werkman vs. St. Francis (Pa.), 1962

28: Glenn Mosley vs. Merrimack, 1976

26: Glenn Mosley vs. Fairfield, 1976

25: Glenn Mosley vs. Saint Peter's, 1977

23: Angel Delgado vs. Kansas, 2018

22: Payne vs. Marquette (2025), Delgado vs. Butler (2017), Mosley vs. Villanova (1977), Arnie Ring vs. St. John's, 1953

Really and you know what they were doing with them too? I am betting they were using them to record in game player stats for later review.

Anyway I doubt anyone knows if they using them and what for.
