Earlier in the year I saw some pictures of Parker and Rivera in the library working the students to come to a game and maybe giving out bling of some sort.Hate to blame the Athletic department for too much, but they need to be on top of this to do whatever they can to get the students to that arena. Seems like there are not many Student Season tix sold. Make it as easy as possible. Give some coupons for the concession stands. Do whatever.
Halldan, I understand your frustration with the students. A cause for concern. It doesn't help the team. However, I still believe its two separate issues regarding the on-court play.Watch other power 5 teams throughout the country. Many with the same issues as us and many not with an AP top 25 team. Yet the stands are full.
The apathy with our students is pathetic. When you can't fill the lower section at Walsh, which includes your own band taking many seats, it's on the student period!
Yes but for the most part they have much bigger student bodies and much better resources and much better arenas to play in! Take RU for example. They have sucked for many years, but they have many more students and Jersey Mikes arena that is great to play in as opposed to the Pru Center.Watch other power 5 teams throughout the country. What happened to the fans when we played at the meadowlands. Those were miserable trips and much more difficult to get toYes but for the most part they have much bigger student bodies and much better resources and much better arenas to play in! Then how do you explain the students not selling out the lower tier, about 500 seats or so at Walsh in any of the three OOC games this year?Yes but for the most part they have much bigger student bodies and much better resources and much better arenas to play in! you have to bus to newark. it's that simple. We’ve had issues at home even during some of the good years with Willard. Maybe something to it idk.
what games did we play at walsh this year? Then how do you explain the students not selling out the lower tier, about 500 seats or so at Walsh in any of the three OOC games this year?
Enough with the excuses. Their support of their own basketball team has been pathetic.
I am agreeing with you but also say that other schools have the same issue but it is not as apparent because of the better facilities (easier access) and larger population of students to draw from. For example they may have been turning away students due to a lack of student tickets available for the number that want them and now they don't. Under both scenarios the student section will be filled but the demand is way down. Then how do you explain the students not selling out the lower tier, about 500 seats or so at Walsh in any of the three OOC games this year?

I agree; we are all taking guesses here, probably based on our own experiences, biases (likes/don't likes), but what we really need to do is to ASK THE STUDENTS!It’s apathy. The question is why. Then how it can be changed.
And we do have a business school that could do it. Make use of it!!!!!Its basic marketing research
Don’t worry - the new promotion of $5.00 beer night will get the students out. It’s apathy. The question is why. Then how it can be changed.
Categorically false about the same amount of undergrads.I went to the Villanova SJU game after the Butler game, and it was night and day difference with students. The student section was overflowing and the kids were all juiced up for the game...same weather, so that is not an excuse; same amount of undergrads, so that is not an excuse. Arena not on campus, so that is not an excuse. It's not like they had 100 more students there, it was 10x, maybe 20x. That SHU student turnout was embarrassing to say the least. There were more cheerleaders and band members than students.

$3,000 for a round trip flight to California? This student is clearly not planning well, probably booking flights at the last minute. You can get a round trip to LAX next month for $300-400 currently.Roughly 90% of Nova undergrads live on campus (so about 6.3k of their 7k undergrads). Meanwhile only about 2400 SHU undergrads live on campus.
Also take a read through this Setonian article from this past November about life on campus. But most here will probably scoff at the article as they do whenever recent grads or current students explain the campus life problem that the school has.

Give them a day off from class and they will attend!I agree; we are all taking guesses here, probably based on our own experiences, biases (likes/don't likes), but what we really need to do is to ASK THE STUDENTS!
Do you attend the basketball games? If yes, why? If no, why not?
What are the 3 top reasons for attending?
What are the 3 top impediments to attending?
What incentives would allow you to overcome those impediments and go to the games?
And so on. Instead of guessing as to what is in their heads, ask them, and then, to the extent their concerns can be addressed, make changes! And put the whole process on social media blast; show them you are interested in finding out what would motivate them to come to the games, and show them you are willing to, and ARE making changes that address their specific concerns.
Maybe free beer would be more attractive!Don’t worry - the new promotion of $5.00 beer night will get the students out.
Just like the student athletes…Give them a day off from class and they will attend!
