As the season progresses it becomes obvious that this team has some major flaws.
-No power forward. Fisher and Rivera are off the bench guys for 10-12mpg.I don't know why we don't try Godswill at PF.Can he be worse than these two guys? We're wasting him on the bench.
-No small forward who can function both on the perimeter and inside.
-No back up PG so Clark can rest and avoid foul trouble.

If we can go 10-10 in BE that would be great given what we have to work with.

Sha's clear weakness is coaching offense. It's been crystal clear for years and shows out in our numbers year after year. It's time Felt and the SHU admins do something to force some offensive help on him. Sha is stubborn and he will not take the help but you can't win if you can't score. Something needs to give at some point.

Theres some truth to this but shaheen cant make layups or hit free throws for them. Do that and this team is 16-3, 6-2, 2nd place in BE and moving up in the top 25 w wins over st johns and uconn

Agree. Sha was a great coach in first half and sucked in second half.Pittino sucked in first half and was great in second half. This is nonsense. Players win and lose games.

It has been mentioned more than once by the play by play TV people that in addition to the offense issues we have we are the smallest team in country size wise or one of the smallest. We really could use a 6'8" or bigger power forward who has some offense moves such as a short jumper and able to rebound and finish at the rim. That is what we are missing. Outside of the center position we are very small. There are high schools that have bigger teams.

We do make up for it to some extent with athleticism, speed and hustle but we do miss a genuine power forward or 2. Could Hines become another MAMU? Maybe Payne and Godswill could man the center position and Hines play power forward? That would really help the half-court game and maybe give Budd more options to get the ball inside for scores?

Just looking at a kid we let go and would have been great to have as a power forward as he shows plenty of much needed offense we are missing: and 38.6% from the 3 and he shot and made 22 of 57 of them. But he did not fit Sha's style of play at least on "D" I guess.

Would be nice to see Payne and Hines on the court together.

You've shown time and time gain recently to be either a completely unserious person here who doesn't actually watch & understand modern college basketball, or an expert PirateCrew troll. I fear it's the former, but maaaaan if it's the latter I tip my hat.

Next year Gus may be back and a very welcomed addition to a team that needs a front court scorer!

Agree but it won’t make any difference if Sha doesn’t listen to whomever he hires. The biggest problem isn’t the assistants. It’s the head coach who can’t seem to get any consistent results over four years on the offensive end. The numbers say it all.

America east big vs big east bigs is a different world
True but you can't teach shooting and wanting to take and make shots. He does have offensive skills that none of our current big men have. He can take and make jump shots 5 feet or more away from the basket and he shoots 3's better than just about everyone on the team. That is a fact and if he is open it does not matter if he is in the BE or American East conference he is going to score. Not like we have any bigs that can do anything but shoot layups and dunk.

If we had Gus on the court for any meaningful minutes our defense would also suck as bad as our offense. Sort of like last year.

You could be correct but most our defense that is effective is predicated on the press and as I see it the center and power forward stay back on the press to guard the low post. So the press mostly relies on 3 players: our 2 guards and small forward. Once we get into the half court our defense can crumble as we are taken to the low post by bigger players on the other team since we have no tall players other than our center. Budd has been killed by this especially.

Anyway I don't really see Sha doing anything different so it is what it is and we shall soon see how it all plays out in the coming weeks.

Our former coach would play with a 7 foot center and MAMU (6'9") at the power forward. That is the lineup I prefer. We had a lot of success with that setup.

Gus is a star at Vermont and would be out of his mind to comeback to SHU. The slower pace of play there fit him perfectly. Vermont should be going back to the dance again this year, more than we can say.
