Sha gets credit for something people were saying he should do two months ago?
Maybe I am just being obstinate, but the board said the start of game offense stinks cause sha starts MW and not TS. It is the reason why we always fall behind. Sha starts TS, our offense scores 6 points in the first 9 minutes, is behind at half to a low level team missing its best player who plays a miserable half, and voila, it worked?

I was not against the switch but didnt think the old lineup was our problem. If not for AJ's 2nd half, we probably lose. I dont remember anyone saying coming off the bench might wake Mike up, but maybe it was suggested. Twin hasnt had a good game since XU. I said to myself the past few games we would set up Mike first shot and he'd hit a 3. Wrong. I feared sitting him could effect his confidence. Wrong. I dont think the change had anything to do with the win. I give credit to AJ, to Budd for that huge bucket, and to Steph for those late blocks. Maybe it woke up Mike. But I would do it again.

Simpkins and Williams are somewhat interchangeable in terms of their game. I agree, that it doesn’t matter which one starts, as long as one of them (and hopefully both) produce on the offensive end in any given game. Ultimately their minutes were roughly the same.

I wouldn’t conclude a trend based on one day to point.

Maybe the solution is not a shakeup to the starting lineup, but it sure seems like the most obvious thing to try. And yes, it didn’t work out yesterday but that’s just one game. We have a whole season’s worth of games telling us that the current starting lineup is not working.

To put it in perspective, the team has a negative 10.5 adjusted net rating (meaning they give up 10.5 more points per 100 possessions than they score) in the first 4 minutes of games this season vs a positive net rating of 18.0 for the rest of the game. In conference play, the first 4 minutes drops to negative 28.8 points per 100 possessions.

But was it a failure? We are all focusing on the early score. But is it a coincidence that a player having major issues starting played so well off the bench?

This was a two fold decision that I thought it not only should have happened long ago, but it actually had a lot to do with our victory yesterday.

Simpkins had a decent game at best. But Williams was outstanding.
