It was definitely an intentional foul. Not a continuation for 3PA IMO. Should’ve reset the possession with us down 3.

It’s still hard to become that UConn team only got called for 3 fouls in the second half. Whew.

I guess the refs were trying to make up for calling that ticky tack foul back in '89.......

In all seriousness, this team came to play yesterday! They were battling and fighting, and clearly had UConn on the ropes. UConn is so much more talented then us, but we showed a lot of heart.

Disappointing to lose for sure, but that was one heck of a basketball game.

Something has to be done with these Big East refs. their incompetence is the only thing that is consistent .
AD should reach out to Big East commissioner on those last two fouls. Nothing will change the outcome of the game but maybe that official doesn’t work the Big East tournament.

Do not hold your breath if you think our commissioner will do anything unless almost all the ADs pressure her .

The normally good article by Carino except for this:

"The whistle then got swallowed on the other end as Pirate point guard Budd Clark got grabbed in a clear intentional foul attempt as he tried to get off a game-tying 3-pointer with nine seconds remaining."

That is in no way how it happened. He was not trying to get off a 3-pointer, he did that after he thought he got fouled.

Well this one bothered Jerry as much as it bothered Sha. So not surprised you got that.

I rarely complain about the refs, especiallly because we benefit as much as anyone from certain whistles given how we play defense coupled with our lack of offensive skill/execution. But everyone knows that Pirate Crews favorite coach Mr Hurly works the refs more than anyone else combined and gets a longer leash. He complained after our first game and was 3/4 of the way on the court yesterday, early, trying to get after a ref. Yet they still do not T him up. The reality is that if other coaches in the league - and especially one in particular - pulled Hurley’s antics, this board would have separate threads devoted to it each game. But because it’s Danny it gets most glossed over.

If you want the reason for the disparity, that’s it. It’s Hurley, Uconn, coupled with how we play compared to how they play generally.

But the continuation rule has changed. He could have been given 3 freethrows, in my opinion

The fact of the matter is-Donny Marshall[UConn guy] even made a remark late in the telecast that the 10-2 PF discrepancy[at that moment in t ime] certainly comes under scrutiny, because Seton Hall was working inside all the time, and not getting any calls.
Okay, enuf of the rant-Tuesday is all that matters right now. Xavier is beatable, but not a gimme! If we play Tuesday like we played Sat., we should be in good shape.
That would us at 20-10, going into John's. Let's win this 1 game vs X!
