Our offense just isn't talented. He's playing with players who are very overmatched against these top 10 defenses.
I liked PSU's delayed QB run. It creates space. we should implement that.

Considering the talent differential, imposing your will seemed unlikely. Gw was throwing the ball well. Take some shots when the def is scheming to stop the run instead of waiting till they are looking to take his head off. I'm no big GW supporter but he was productive today. The coaching didn't give him a chance to truly succeed. This decision may have kept it close bit was never going to give RU any chance to win

That was the most uncreative offense I've ever seen. Do you think they wouldn't be able to stop Kyle when they knew he was running to the same place 80% of the time? You've got to take risks to mitigate the talent differential. We seem to play to try not to get blown out. That strategy is working better than in the past so yes, we're making progress but we're never beating eanked teams playing this way. This is embarrassingly obvious when you look at how long it's been since we've beat a ranked team.
Maybe just maybe their defense is just way more talented and has way more depth than our offense. It's not always on the play calling. You have to work with what you have.

I don’t care if we lose by 38 or by 3. A loss is a loss. I hated the ultra safe play calling in the 1st half. We aren’t going to win with that type of play calling against teams like Penn state. Sure he might throw a pick 6 and we lose by 38. It’s also possible Gavin completes the throws and we have a chance for a win.
So the premise is regardless of how things are going in a game - we make no adjustments?

I understand your point but feel it isn't an honest equivalency. Wagner would never be in the game. Rutgers was. Wagner is not in the same conference as the hypothetycal.opponent. Rutgers is.
There is a talent differential but its not quite that extreme that calls don't matter. Defensive calls seem to negate that differential for Rutgers often enough.
