its a bit interesting we were so hard on him last year and didn't seem to make any effort this time around
I don't see it as a "big get"
He was placed in Hargrave by Bama. If Bama wanted him, they would have gotten him. I can see this has he didn't have any other options. He is already at 375. I'm sure that's not a good 375 either.
We didn't recruit him this time around. My guess is that we really like our O-line class and didn't want to risk any of those commits for a guy that could be viewed as equal or less talented and a risk. Furthermore, with all our O-line returning next year, early playing time wouldn't really be in the cards.
....I honestly think he just looks at stars on Scout and Rivals, and blanket offers the guys. Orgeron admitted to doing this, and he's Freeze's recruiting mentor so there you go. But talent is talent, and yes, Hill has some talent. Seems like Freeze has the Cal mentality, give me the talent and we'll find a way to work with it. Not saying it isn't a good thing, just a different approach than I am used to at MSU. Worked for Orgeron I guess, although he never really got much out of his guys, had to bring in Nutt to get them to play with confidence.
Trae Elston was a Under Armour All American. Freeze didnt just luck up and find some diamond in the rough there.
And regarding Burdette, is he really in the 2-deep at safety, or is he 2-deep in the safety because of injuries? Because considering yall have had walk-ons getting reps in your secondary, I dont think the depth chart is what it would be if everyone were healthy.
Out of 22 commits, 15 are either from MS, a MS JUCO, or Memphis. I'd say he's recruiting regionally pretty well. Several are from Georgia as well as some top targets. Several other recruits are from Illinois, Texas, or Louisiana. I wouldn't say they're stretching themselves real thin trying to recruit everyone everywhere. Seems like they're concentrating in certain high-volume areas as well as recruiting the state heavily.I think the big question many want to know is if it's better to spend time actively recruiting solid out of staters rather than more projects that are closer and more thoroughly evaluated. Obviously you have to work harder on out of staters because they have no regional tie to your school so that's the trade-off.
Sorry. Meant to say The Kluckers Up North.
Looking at the MS prospects left, there's really not much for you there. You aren't getting Shumpert. Point being, you're getting your clock cleaned instate.
Can't wait to revisit this comment in February. Can I get Ronny to archive it for me?
May want to ask Whereisomaha about "revisiting" comments about croots around here before you make a statement like that.
"Quay Evans and Nick James will never play a down for MSU". Not Ronny, just sayin.
