Ok, well that is fair enough and that would be qualified as overtly racist and not something normal people would disagree with.

You however have to be told Meghan Merkel or whatever her name is was black, you have to be told that the baby is some percentage black and then you have to realize that whatever percentage that actually is is sufficient such that such a crass joke would be out of bounds. It wasn't racist, not even willfully insensitive or disrespectful.

What actually happens here, clearly, is the BBC guy makes a crass joke against the black royal baby because she is black royal and this Cruse guy finds it funny because the baby is black royal or he thinks chimpanzees are funny, because they always are. He is an entertainer who in the moment doesn't realize what he is doing. It's ok for you that he is punished for him being dumb, for Sean for him being arrogant, or whatever else... but it shouldn't be, not in civilized western society.

I mean, look around, where this is taking us... the lunacy posted above, the various hoaxes like Smollet etc... it's regressive, not progressive and doesn't advance anything but takes away from legitimate cases of racism.

Go ahead and put me on ignore Sean, I know your blood is boiling reading this, save us all the trouble.... the truth makes you mad, well, because you can't handle it.

Yes, I'm OK with a public figure losing their job for saying something like that. I believe that makes us a more civilized society, where those sorts of remarks aren't socially acceptable.

You said yourself that you understand and agree that is not something anyone should ever say, there is no reason a 25 year veteran of the television industry doesn't know that.

Who is being ostracized from society? The idea to say racist rhetoric or that white-nationalists/ neo-nazis are permissible due to freedom of speech is laughable. My grandfathers did not fight wars to rid the world of this rhetoric to allow for it to persist in 2019.
Lee cruse is now a white nationalist? Also isnt white nationalism, while is real, very very very small of society that hardly exists..oddly it gets amplified tho as of they are on every street corner. Anti semitism in reality is much more prevalent, which is also white nationalism, yet one party openly apologizes for it. Their votes arent as important tho.

Context is important. If Lee would have said oh yeah we know that baby is a monkey and why, bc one grandparent is black...but obviously that's not what he said or thought..its not even hard to infer. But that doesnt stop ppl from going down this rabbit hole that "yeah well ppl you never met used to characterize minorities like this 100 years ago...so its alive and well"

Those kind of remarks are already socially unacceptable, what is uncivilized is you are punishing a man for being racist who isn't racist. People who know him vouched for him... it weakens society because you impute intent on to him, which may or may not be there. This is no different than being a member of a pitchfork horde demanding the burning of the witch.

Once again, one of you needs a new avatar because it looks like you’re arguing with yourself.

I noticed that myself... imitation is the greatest flattery, but I'm not looking to be flattered. He'll take the same avatar of a player I had to explain was to him was a special talent irrespective of his race, try to call me out for the same thing I accuse him of and even occasionally try to use the same verbage or logic I employed against me. He's a real piece of work, but I wish him well no matter what he calls me.

He's wrong virtually all the time. Here's a link to the Dalai Llama being sexist. What he clearly means is the next female Dalai lama, which would be him reincarnated according to his beliefs, would benefit from being prettier otherwise he'd have the same problems his current ugly self has. It's a joke which doesn't play in our sensitive PC culture, so people like him automatically impute some nefarious intent. He must be misogynist because everyone's prejudiced lunacy. Tibetan feminist society supports him, but BigBlueSean knows his heart better, can impute what he really meant.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet has come under fire for a recent BBC interview in which he addressed the current refugee crisis and urged European nations to overcome their Islamophobic attitudes.

Never one to spare an opportunity to generate inflammatory and attention-grabbing headlines, the Gawker-owned outlet Jezebel quickly seized on a clickbait-worthy story painting the Nobel Prize-winning icon of global peace and compassion as a homophobic anti-feminist with “unexpectedly ******-up opinions.”

Because of the critical influence of His Holiness on Buddhism in the west and human rights around the world, a Tibetan (note: intersectional) feminist critique is imperative to clarify and contextualize his remarks. We hope the following will provide for a more nuanced understanding and discussion of a deeply complex issue:

  1. Having watched the entire interview and the similar clips referenced, His Holiness was trying to explain how unattractive he believes himself to be. Known for his self-deprecating brand of humor, His Holiness was making a tongue-in-cheek reference to his own physical appearance and attempting to make the joke that any potential cis female reincarnation of a future Dalai Lama should be the opposite of him — essentially, “very attractive” by western beauty standards. A regular part of His Holiness’ teachings is the importance of inner beauty over external beauty, in keeping with Tibetan Buddhist teachings.
  2. While the irony here was clearly missed, bear in mind that His Holiness is not fluent in English and requires a translator for all his public speaking engagements. You can plainly see from the clip that the interviewer is quick to assume he’s being serious and makes a half-hearted attempt to confirm his sentiments — then abruptly cuts him off as he visibly struggles to explain his joke by referencing his own physical features:
His Holiness: “Some people… my face–“

    Interviewer: “You’re joking.”

    His Holiness: [Confused expression] True.
  3. It’s important to recognize that the entire point of the interview was about how Muslims are fleeing persecution and should not be denied refuge because of their faith. His Holiness never fails to emphasize interfaith cooperation and is known for his global leadership in championing tolerance and compassion. Not only is he making a bold and un-precedented move in allowing the possibility of a cis female reincarnation, he also has tirelessly advocated for a greater leadership role for women across the world.
  4. His Holiness has come out in favor of same-sex marriage. In an interview on Larry King Live, His Holiness notes: “If two people – a couple – really feel that way is more practical, more sort of satisfaction, both sides fully agree, then OK.” The Jezebel article’s criticism of his views on LGBTQ issues is, thus, inaccurate. Despite the fact that Buddhist teachings don’t address the issue of same-sex marriage (obviously because marriage is a social institution), homosexuality is not explicitly condemned nor endorsed. Thus, His Holiness coming out in favor of marriage equality is a monumental decision in itself. In addition, His Holiness has spoken out strongly against violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation.
  5. Mainstream feminist outlets are often criticized for their lack of inclusion of women of color and faith backgrounds. In order for a truly transnational feminist movement that encourages solidarity with women across the world, an intersectional feminist approach is critically needed. As a people in exile, with an ongoing political crisis in our ancestral homeland, we hope our allies in the feminist community and larger social justice movement will take note of a Tibetan feminist perspective.

I'm not sure how ostracizing people who say racist things, or in Lee's case agree with someone who does something racist, is a bad thing. I think anyone who says or does stupid things should be ostracized, that's how they learn the things they are saying are not acceptable in a polite society.

I don't know about you, but I have no problem speaking freely without feeling the need to use racist comments.[/QUOT

“Aren’t socially acceptable” meanwhile, the same people who are offended by this, don’t bat an eye at the constant anti-white hate machine produced by media and academia nor the comics who say that type of crap.

We’ve been conditioned to think it’s okay to bash and mock one group but you’re not allowed to ever criticize or make a joke about any other group.

Unbelievable

I didn't even notice that.

Ofcourse BigBlueSean thinks free speech should have restrictions. Free means precisely that free, you don't defeat bad ideas by letting them hide in the shadows, you defeat them in the open forum of ideas.

Express bad ideas on the job, you might get fired for it. There's no evidence Cruse did so here, but being dumb should be justification enough.

@BigBlueSean and @Father Torque , regardless if you choose to ignore this clip or disagree..I really don’t care.’

This explanation from Lee invalidates your arguments, and proves your agenda:

That apology might carry a bit more weight if he told the actual truth. He says that he doesn't know what the story is or what he the guy has done before he says he's his new hero.

That's obviously a lie if you watch the original video where he says and I quote "A british DJ has been fired over a picture of a chimpanzee used in a tweet about the new royal baby. (laughing), this is my new favorite disc jockey."

His problem there is he is naive, he thinks hey people love me I'll just apologize and we'll all move on and things will go back to normal.

The reality is the jackals have the taste of blood in their mouths, they will not stop until satisfied, until their suffering is avenged, the wrong is righted and they are avenged not only for this injustice but those in the past.

The moral of the story there is don't apologise when you did nothing wrong.

I understand your point, and do agree to disagree, but I don't think it stands up to scrutiny. I also agree that in today's climate, he should know better.

It's not that I want to excuse him per se, it's that it's dangerous not to.

We should keep our pitch forks in the closet until we know we need them.

Where's the equal justice?
Lee Cruse gets immediately fired of his knucklehead antics.
Jussie Smollet has the country in an uproar saying he was assaulted by two white guys in MAGA hats. It's a wonder that it did not spark race/LBTG riots in Chicago. All charges dropped and still on the payroll. o_O

From someone at Lex 18 I know. Lex is getting absolutely hammered over this from the community. They received a petition this morning demanding Lee be rehired, that had already 12,000 signatures on it. They’ve received almost 10,000 emails/ social media messsages as well. The advertising department is freaking out because they’ve had over 150k in future advertisements canceled already. The GM is actually trying to take as many calls as he can. If you call and leave your number he will call you back.
Scripps, who is the company that just bought 18, is the one that ultimately made the decision against everyone at 18’s wishes. They are now being bombarded with calls, emails etc. which they said they have never seen in these types of volumes before.
I think it’s pretty awesome that the community is so fed up with this type of crap that they’ve actually stood up against it this time. The easily offended, blaming, complaining, social justice warrior, race baiting drain on society types do so much more harm for race relations than they will ever know. I’m actually proud of the VERY vast majority of this community calling BS on it.

Yeah he did. It was indirect, but he gave the action of sharing a photo depicting a person of African heritage as a monkey validation when he called that DJ "his favorite DJ".

Imagine being so incredibly dumb that you can’t recognize comedy/irony and actually believe cruse thinks that dude is his favorite DJ.

I truly thank god I’m not this ignorant

After watching the clip that show seems awful, and in todays society - yeah you are getting fired for that. Doesn't mean its right, but you can't make a mistake on that subject matter, in reality shouldn't even be a topic.

Laugh at that joke and you get fired.
Say a bunch of anti-white stuff filled with vitriol and you get a byline, a TV media gig, and a Netflix special.

That’s not “equality.”

Between jobs for WLEX and WVLK...Cruse should have known better. Not like the DJ being fired was a first or shock for Cruse, he works TV and radio. Cruse tried being funny and failed.

I'm the one performing mental gymnastics? I am not the one on here rationalizing and approving of what Lee did. You just a little wuss. Tha'ts all. An insufferable, ignorant, little wuss that hates that in any debate, being it soccer, racism etc. I take you behind a woodshed and completely expose your lack of critical thinking. Don't get mad. Learn something.
Hate to break it to you buddy, but you're not taking anyone to the woodshed in a debate. You actually look pretty ignorant.

Look I lean left and would call myself a liberal, but the outrage machine is out of control and getting worse. This man should've never been fired. But the regressive people that believe only certain ideals should be free speech are damaging our country. I get the MeToo movement and it's done a lot of good. But somehow got to the point where the consensus is all women should be believed about this. That's a horrible thing to say. Your basically ruining what could be an innocent persons life. It should be that all women are taken seriously about this. The pc culture has run amok. As a democrat this is why we lose elections. I want Trump defeated badly, and I realize most people here support him, but the things I mentioning above, plus the left going to far left, are going to end up getting him re-elected.

It’s become pretty clear now in the community that everyone at Lex 18, from management to co workers didn’t want him fired and are calling BS. The Lee and Hayley show numbers came in as well and were off the charts good. Better than even Scripps anticipated them being. More advertisers have dropped. The outrage has now started to shift to Scripps directly. Scripps just purchased Lex very recently and employees aren’t happy. Gonna be interesting to see if they overturn this. If you want to send Scripps an email, here’s the guy:

I’m still waiting for Lee’s due process.

He was fired by a private company. Nothing to do with "due process". he can sue them if he wants.

I've gone back and watched... Should he have been fired? No. Did he screw up bad? yes. It's a great lesson for anybody in a position like this. Trust your partner's judgement. When she told him repeatedly what he was saying was "racist" he should have shut up.

I believe him when he said he didn't look into the material. He probably thought it was just another stupid royal family silly story. Turns out it was serious and he wasn't prepared and came off as a complete dumbass/racist.

But... that doesn't make him a racist.

And. Last but not least. I asked this earlier but I'm sure it got caught in the thread. @BigBlueSean Can you please post the link to the stories of advertisers pulling their ad money to get him fired.

Thanks in advance.
