The problem with Mike’s lament about the quality of the Big East: if those teams were good enough to qualify as Q1 road opponents, we might not have beat them!
Gotta have the opportunities.
And then you don’t have to go 13-7 in the BE to be on the right side of the bubble.
The Big 10 and SEC teams have resumes that keep them on the fringe of the bubble because many teams are Q1 opportunities.
The BE OOC performance was sub par. That includes NOVA and SJU too.
Of course. My only point is our record might be much different if those teams had been good enough to have higher ratings.
Our record could have been much different this year alone.
We played to the level of our competition throughout.
Could have easily won games against UConn / SJU and lost games to teams that finished below us.
I am not a believer in the narrative that if the BE did better in the OOC that we automatically are now a 6-14 team.
DePaul had a OOC SOS of 334
Took a Q4 loss vs Buffalo
Marquette lost at home to Q3 Maryland
Also had 3 20+ point blowout losses.
The entire conference went 15-32 against Q1-2 opponents in the OOC
The only team that really carried the flag was UCONN. Hence they are in position for a 2 seed and SJU is projected to be a 5.
Teams winning a few extra games in the OOC doesn’t mean Seton Hall now loses mores games in the BE.
