Awful choice not to go for it on 4th and 7.

This game says all about us. Team is just awful.

cant fault the heart of these kids. they keep trying and keep coming close. we could have won the last 3 games but keep making that bad mistake that kills us. injuries keep mounting but they keep playing. props to the kids.

I couldnt be prouder of the fight in these kids....Coming so close....Never say die....However bottom line is another L, which makes Duke 1-9 in last 10 ACC games, 0-5 this year.

Three years removed from winning the Coastal, and the bottom has seemingly fallen out. Three years away from clinching the Coastal in a win at UNC, and likely facing a 3rd straight battering from them Thursday nite... I hope Cut can right the ship, before its lost at sea....

I agree hart, 1 lazy win against WF in the last 1.5 years but the kids are fighting. I am still optimistic looking forward. I think our offense will be good next year. Our D is solid at LB and our line has a great coach. Quite honestly, I don't think our kicking game can get any worse.

With you my friend- the kicking game has gone south totally and hopefully staff has an eye on a freshman kicker next year...I dont blame Reed for the block yesterday, but staff has already decided to employ a walk-on i understand for long range kicks rest of year...

Defensively, the secondary must improve against the pass(they were better yesterday!) and the O-line must protect better... Just got to start winning close ones before LOSING becomes a habit....

We have shown improvement over the season, but it hasn't translated to wins. If we could've gotten the upset at L'ville, that changes the whole season imo. It doesn't fix some of our issues, but it does give us some momentum which we have none off. It also boosts confidence, and while we don't seem to be down on ourselves, we don't seem to have that edginess about us that we did a couple of seasons ago.

Obviously, getting to a bowl at this point is highly unlikely but it is really important that we finish strong. I am not saying we have to win one+ of these last 3(it would be ideal), but we must show up to play and not mail it in. We need close games even if we don't win them. At this point, it is about playing to a standard and not being concerned about the record.

From a coaching standpoint, it is time to pull out all of the stops. We need to be more aggressive, it is just that simple. A little trickeration wouldn't hurt. We have executed some funky stuff in the past, and it would be the big swing we have lacked in these close games.

thanks dukeman. I don't blame the kids but it's obvious that the coaching staff continues to put this team in tough unwinnable situations like yesterday and louisville. It's mind boggling. I saw the fg kick on a replay and wtf was our guy doing? he let him run past him and blocked another guy we already had in check. so stupid

Totally agree about trickeration....Its virtually nil, and its like Roper is learning by Offensive Playcalling 101.... We played well offensively particularly well vs ND and Ga Tech, but in 6 of our 9 games we have only scored SEVEN POINTS IN THE FIRST HALF.....

Yep, nine games into the season and missing a VERY BASIC BLOCK on a FG??!! 10 pt turnaround yesterday, Cut at least admitted was fault of staff....

I think if we go winless rest of way, commits start walking.....

The running back position is getting thin with all the injuries. I will have to say this team puts up a good fight each week and that is a credit to the coaching staff. I think that Jones has shown steady improvement at quarterback and making better decisions. We have to recruit some bigger bodies on the offensive line to get back to our success we had two years ago.

Special teams continue to be abysmal. Cut's decision to punt is incomprehensible. Why did he think that our defense stood a better than even chance to hold the Hokies for three downs?

Especially after the week before, it was deja vu all over again....This is not hindsight- hated the call when it was made, and press was right to question him on it...Playing not to lose....

Just a reminder that the game this week is Thursday night on ESPN at 7:30. I hope I don't have to remind no one who we are playing and what happened the last time these vandals from unc came to Wallace Wade. They whipped us pretty good that day and we owe them. But it wasn't the loss as much as what they did to our visitors locker room. How in the world a coaching staff would allow this to happen is beyond me. How can a coach not seen it. At least one coach. It all goes back to the integrity of that coaching staff and the control they had over these hoodlums. Oh yes the unc faithful say but Fedora paid for the damage out of his own pocket , now that says something about his character but he whined about the amount of the bill. What I'm asking for from this board is that if you are just a Duke basketball fan and not necessarily a Duke football fan it is still a Duke program and a Duke athletic facility was vandalized by there's no other word for it vandals is to watch and support our Duke football team on Thursday night. Hopefully the security will be beefed up at the visitor locker room this year and their coaching staff will baby sit after the game regardless of the outcome. You see unc nation is hoping that Duke nation has forgotten. Sorry not yet. OFC

Will NEVER forget their trashing of our facilities...One of the lowest acts of all time for a college team traveling w/coaching staff to play at an opposing school. Our guys have to be fired up!

There's not a doubt in my mind that Coach Cut has reminded the team of this. I do hope photos were taken and hopefully are hanging in the home locker room. And maybe for just this game those pics are hanging in the visitor locker room also. I hold Fedora and staff even more responsible for it because they had to know what was going on. OFC

Anyone attending the game on Thursday? I know the crowd turnout is less than desirable, but what is a Duke/UNC football game like to those that might have attended?

I think it wouldn't have changed if the locker room vandalism had not happened. Shame.
There has been a lot of blowback about the decision, so I wonder if it will change back next year. I'm hoping that whoever wins will still paint it though.

I think the painting of the bell for the victorious team is a great tradition. I heard an unc player say on a local sports radio show that he planned on having his baby blue can of spray paint ready to go if they won the game. I have no problem with that. Just show some class, character and dignity and not vandalize Duke's facilities or visitor locker room like a bunch of thugs did two years ago when unc won the game. Think that's too hard to ask. trubisky is an awesome qb. He could be the 1st qb taken if he choose to go into the draft. We are not going to keep them from scoring so we have to score with them and so far we are not doing that. With that said we're inside the 10 1st and goal. Need to score a T.D. not a F.G. Maybe even when we are in unc territory around the 35 or so and it's 4th down go ahead and go for it. unc it seems can go 90 yds just as easy as they can go 60 or so. Score a T.D. here and get some momentum. As I post we just got that T.D. OFC

21-21 still in the 1st. half. Refs are killing unc with one bad call after another. I've counted at least 10 myself. Refs keeping us in the game or it would be 49-0 by now. ;) OFC

We kick to them to start the second half. I'm sure fedora has made some adjustments. Hoping Coach Cut counter acts with adjustments of his own. Kick and get a stop, go down and score. OFC
