Just to add detail and correct some of the inaccuracies concerning 'in-and-out' passes this year, during the meeting held Dec. 17 in the Griffis Board Room, Mr. Brent Frye laid out the changes for this year. Yes, they are limiting the purchase of 'in-and-out' passes to one per rig this year. And yes, they have indicated 'in-and-out' pass users must have their vehicles out of the LFL 30 minutes prior to when ticket sales commence, and the NE gate opens to allow fans into the LFL (making the lead time for access approximately 2.5 h before game time). According to our understanding, 'in-and-out' pass holders will have access to a reserved parking area in the lot just across Lakeview Drive from the access gate in the NE corner. The main reasons for this occurring stem from the PEER report commissioned by the legislature and IHL several years ago to look at liability aspects concerning the use of the LFL area and Mississippi State University and it's baseball program. Last year, there were times when if an ambulance or other large emergency vehicle had needed to gain access to the left field vehicles or bleachers, they could not have done so because of insufficient lane width between parked vehicles (on both sides of the access road), especially approaching the rest room area in left field.
Brent also mentioned that there may be safety inspections of the various rigs once they are set up in the outfield to provide some degree of assurance that units do not pose a significant hazard to their occupants, nor to other units in close physical proximity.
These are a few of the major elements on the table this year. With the front row being shifted towards the left field corner, and pull-in scheduled to commence Feb. 1, we have to all hope that the rains subside soon to allow the area to dry out before move in. Personally, the most dangerous operations I have witnessed out there involved pulling in vehicles, especially the modified cotton trailers, when the ground was too soft to enable safe maneuvering of the rigs. That can get real tricky (and scary) at times!
