I liked his energy, but at times I felt he was ball hogging too much, we need a point guard that is pass first, he missed several players on break aways, then held the ball the whole shot clock just too get his shot. It worked last night, but he can't continue too play that way

He definitely dribbles with his head down, it seems to me. He needs to be more pass-first in his possessions. Surely he can do that. See the floor.

I think Lowe's quickness definitely helps us. He and MD were the keys to our win last night. Lowe reminds me quite a bit of Sahvir Wheeler with his quickness and being left-handed. Statistically, although Lowe is younger and has more games to play, they are similar. I think Sahvir was a better defender and looked to pass more than what I've seen of Lowe, so far. Lowe is recovering from injury, settling in and learning how he fits into what Pope wants on offense, so I think his play will improve. Lowe is not as good on defense as I was hoping he would be, despite his quick feet. He is too frail.
Bottom line ... I'm GLAD we have Lowe and I think he will get better. He needs to hit his lay-ups and free-throws at a higher clip. I think he will.
It will be interesting to see if SEC defenses will sag off him, like they usually did for Wheeler, giving him the outside shot and cutting down the driving lanes. Lowe and Aberdeen need to learn how to mesh together on the court at the same time. This is a must, imho.

When it comes to ball hogging, Lowe takes a back seat to Aberdeen and Johnson.

Lowe is used to being the guy, the transition is going to be hard, but he was +24 last night, so whatever he's doing, is working.
Yeah, Aberdeen especially.

It’s a flaw of the roster for sure, but we just about have to ride with him because he’s pretty much the only player we have who can break down the defense. That definitely does make me nervous though because the rosy predictions that his efficiency would skyrocket after Pope got him playing a completely different style than what Pitt was doing last year have yet to come remotely true, and we won’t always have the big advantage on the boards that we did last night. With that in mind, I’m starting to think that becoming a dominant defense is this team’s only chance to do anything worth mentioning this year.

I think he's got 2 things contributiong.

1. He's shaking off the rust. He seems like he's physically there. But I think it takes a few games back to sharpen those senses for vision/passing.

2. We just don't have a lot of offensive flow. Lowe was consistently getting into the paint in the 2nd half. We needed it. He needs to do a better job of finishing, finding the open man, and such. But to have a guy that can break down the defense consistently, is huge.

Disagree. He has to get his game going and get the feel again after sitting for so long. The shots he missed , he will make the next game. Better not to make a pass if you don’t feel it will work. Lowe and Mo were a huge difference in this game. He will refine his game as he gets more minutes and more confidence.

Agreed. I don’t pay attention to numbers on a page. Especially fake numbers from KP.

Lowe was rusty but Stevie Wonder could see the team was better with him out there.

On the “missed” lob to Oweh, maybe it wasn’t a miss?

Oweh had missed his normal handful of layups so maybe Lowe didn’t want to add to the total?

Lowe is far from a perfect point guard but he’s our best option by a mile.

The rest of the team is not running a motion offense! We must correct this moving forward.....very few open people to pass the ball to = Lowe and Aberdeen playing dribble drive offense.

Your glad we got a comparison to Wheeler?
Geez…I’d have just kept acaden Lewis and Perry vs Lowe…dude is a brick layer and still wondering why pope spent money on this guy

Exactly. At this point this team needs him but UK absolutely 100% can’t go into next year with Lowe as the starting pg. If he doesn’t like that then he can bounce.

1.) He’s not dependable to be in the lineup consistently. He was hurt most of the year last year at Pitt too.
2.) Even if he were healthy and playing every game he’s still not the caliber pg needed to win a title.

In alot of ways Pope’s job will be tied to what he does at pg next year. Run it back with Lowe and he better get his resume ready. Replace him with a better pg and he might see year 4 here, might.

We have Lowe and need to make the best of his skills. We cannot un-recruit him now, during the season. To my view, he's our best PG option for this year.

fwiw ... Wheeler was 2nd team ALL-SEC and Lowe was 3rd team ALL-ACC, both voted on by opposing coaches.

Someone starts a thread bashing Lowe after a double digit win. Bless his heart
Its not bashing. Its fair criticism. He was hitting his shots and getting in the lane, and he helped last night. But when a team has the personnel to body him up and get physical with him, he shuts down. (Indiana didn't have the personnel to do that). Hitting his shots helped us win last night, but a PG has to be a facilitator. Op has a fair point. That being said, he's far from the only player on this team who plays selfish at times.

If garrison plays with effort like he did last night, I take him over Moreno. But it really doesn’t matter because JQ will put them both in the bench
I wouldn't put all.my hopes in JQ being the same after his injury. Hope he is, but I just remember Poythress losing his explosive athleticism after his injury.

He’s the spark plug to our offense. It be different if we had 2 or 3 guards that could create on their own but he’s basically surrounded by some Pitt like players.
Yep for sure our only guy that can consistently beat his man off the dribble. When Chandler or Aberdeen run the point they get stuck dribbling at the 3 point line.

Lowe can get downhill and Barkley was right last night. We need to play up tempo and crash the boards versus hanging out at the 3 point line and jacking up 3's.

He needs a little time to shake off the rust and our guys need to cut and be in position for him to distribute the ball.

Right, but you can see his potential. He's going to be very good once he understands how to properly use his skills.

Has potential but not this season. So we basically wasted good nil on a project. Means we'll have to pay him at least another year if we want any roi.

He has several problems beyond mindset. Plays way too high, which compounds his lack of lower body strength. Also makes his handle high which makes it tougher on him to beat defenders off the dribble.

In addition, he needs to get stronger in general. More lower body strength will help the above, but he just needs more mass.

Its just silly. He had two guys open for quick layups at the end. We didn't need layups. We needed to run clock

First time playing long enough in any meaningful game to affect the outcome, icgaf how much he dribbles as long as we get the W. I want him to double or triple-stack that brace though. I trust that shoulder about as much as rappelling down an old shoelace.

This team has stretches where they forget team ball and play me ball.
