Oversaw the total rebuild of our program and helped to provide a scenario where Willard was able to grow into the job and build us into something meaningful. Think of where we were when he arrived in 2011 and by a few years later we were in a streak with 6/7 NCAA Tournament teams and two BE titles plus the groundwork for the beautiful new facility. It was second-best stretch for this program in our BE history behind Carlesimo.

Would love to hear his true thoughts on what's gone on at The Hall since, lol.

Best of luck, Pat. Thanks for the good work.

In my view, Pat Lyons was one of the most effective and visionary leaders Seton Hall has seen in decades. His impact as Athletic Director was, by any standard, exceptional. After being elevated to a senior leadership role, he played a pivotal part in a leadership team that crafted a bold, long-term campus master plan — a 15+ year vision to transform Seton Hall’s academic, student life, and athletic infrastructure.

Early elements of that plan included the renovation and expansion of the University Center, development of a top-tier practice facility, major upgrades to Walsh Library, and a host of academic capital projects. During Pat’s time in the president’s office, the University also quietly and strategically acquired key properties around campus, positioning SHU for future growth.

But beyond the accomplishments, Pat stood out for his ability to unite the community. He inspired students, energized alumni, earned the respect of faculty and staff, and had a rare ability to anticipate challenges and lead with clarity and confidence.

Pat was marginalized by the new administration and had his leadership portfolio inexplicably reduced. While the public message may soon shift to “a new team and a new direction,” let’s be clear: Seton Hall needs the highest caliber of leadership — now more than ever. Pat Lyons set a standard that should not be forgotten. I would not be surprised if Nova, PC or BC seek him out for various roles. He is certainly not done yet!

Got it. I guess he just wanted to go home.
Speaking of Providence, they recently had a lawsuit filed against them by a former Athletic Department Psychologist who alleges all types of gender, sex and racial violations.

Among her accusations she was unhappy that the school didn't address her complaints about the racial undertones against Ed Cooley after he quit.

Stewart states she raised concerns to school leaders that backlash directed at basketball coach Ed Cooley after he left PC was “racially charged, abusive, and intrusive, and that Providence College’s failure and refusal to publicly denounce the racist undertones of this backlash signaled institutional indifference to anti-Black sentiment.”

Just to show how special Pat was he sent me this email yesterday unsolicited.

Dan,

I assume you heard the news about my departure. This has been my wife and my plan for a while now but I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the support of both the athletic department and basketball programs. I know how much you have done and I've always appreciated it. I would have been remiss if I didn't take a moment to thank you.

Pat
