Yeah the league rigged a lottery for Dallas!!!

They’re not even the premier team in Texas! With Houston being stacked with young elite up and coming talent Mavs could be 3rd in the state next season!

Three old injury proned vets with a rookie! My god the horror of facing them!

Well they had to replenish the Mavs with something for them to trade away to the Lakers, Knicks or Celtics in a couple years, come on man, it's the long game, they rigged it not so Dallas can win, but so they can sell again down the road!

You have to be a special kind of stupid to think the NBA lottery is rigged. Especially if you use Ewing and the Knicks as evidence. Ok, the New York franchise is so important that the NBA desperately wants them to have first pick. And they haven't had it again, or anything close to it, in 40 years. Despite sucking all the time. San Antonio, the poopstain of the NBA with all the fat women has won it 3 times since.

If the lottery was rigged it'd be Lakers, Boston, New York, Miami, Warriors getting top picks all the time.

Big global port cities. Four of them actually championship winners and relevant. One of them, NY, could use some rigging in their favor to land a big phenom talent.

I wish the leagues would rig things for the better teams to pick higher and get great talent. Or just change the rules to where it wouldn't be rigging.

Something to the effect of "if you suck we're not rewarding you with high picks."

Nothing more frustrating than watching talent never get a good shot at maximizing potential at a poorly run franchise.

Same goes for NFL.

Dirk was great and Dallas had a nice run with him. Nothing against the franchise, but a big-time superstar, being competitive for a bit, and winning a title really didn't do much for the league.

At long last I have some inside information...my NBA friend who I can't name gave me all the details on this conspiracy.

It's just as many suspected: the NBA wanted the Lakers to have a superstar so they arranged for them to get Luka in exchange
for the top draft pick. But it almost fell apart when that do gooder Pops was going to reveal the conspiracy. In the end Pops got a lobotomy which was called a stroke and the Spurs got the 2nd pick as a reward for saving the situation. None of it would have ever worked if all the other billionaire owners hadn't been completely selfless; none cared about their own personal glory or the value of their franchises. They were all happy to rig things against themselves for the good of the league.

Heh I don't know what to make of this. You're on the money in regards to exactly what happened (aside from the Pop stuff), but it seems youre thinking its some conspiracy.

The owners of these organizations don't neccesarily care if their teams win or lose, they care about making money. A very real argument can be made that moving Luka to the Lakers helps the ENTIRE NBA.. which has been struggling with viewership for several years.. and in exchange, Dallas was given the 1st pick for their trouble.

I mean, if this didnt happen like 5 other times in lottery history, then sure. But even ESPN radio is laughing how rigged it is. They still refuse to show this thing on the up and up, parts of it are always hidden so we never REALLY know who won the lottery. The funny part is, I don't think the owners, nor Adam Silver even give a ****. Because in the end, people still watch.. so what does it matter if they move some pieces around behind the scenes to better the product? Do I like it? Of course not. Will I or you stop watching? Nope.

The sooner you realize that sports are about generating profit, instead of determining which team is the best, the better. This isn't some city by city, franchise by franchise competition.. its a business.

No. That's what he was billed as coming out of HS. He showed very good athleticism for the college game. Will probably be slightly above average in that regard at the NBA level.

Great ball-handler is also wrong.
His handle is fine for a 6'9 guy.
It's the idiosyncratic spin when the pressure is on that is a weakness.

Didn't Dallas draft Mashburn originally?

And maybe one of the Michigan fab 4?
Jimmy King maybe?

In the same draft?
