I’m not the beacon of positivity or defending any of thee guys but Budd was hurt. Does not justify his performance or how Sha used him
It would justify his performance if the injury were leg related. His legs are a large part of his talent.

So he was able to run full speed for 32 minutes but he had a leg injury? You guys will believe anything.
Exactly. Was he hurting, probably. But most guys are banged up at this point, they are 3 months into the season & a month into conference play.

Yes but shaheen cant shoot free throws or make layups for them. He doesnt butcher fast breaks either
Is that really why we had one FG in over ten minutes? Every game? We can't blame everything on free throws or the occasional blown layup. An offense is designed to provide regular shot opportunities and we don't have that.

True but I expect that everyone we play has the same issues so in the end it is a level playing field.

I also blame his lack of hang time outs to stop momentum. He didn’t call his first timeout in the 2nd half until 9 min left and St John’s had already gotten it to as close as 5. Yes he had tv timeouts but you can’t let that happen especially in a road environment. When they got it to 10 I’m immediately calling timeout. Helped the guys regroup and draw up a quick play to get us back to 12. I gotta watch it back but I would have liked us to run some more stuff for AJ. If Budd is down he is a co captain and leading scorer he has to be a go to guy when we need a bucket. Can’t have Budd on one leg keep trying to force things.

We may need to try a payne/hines frontcourt. I know the arguments against it. Can the 4 guard the perimeter? Last night they pounded it inside. Payne held zuby to 9 pts and bryce was only going to the tin. Fish is doing his best guarding the 4s. The guys chest is prob bruised and battered at this point. Mitchell was finishing over our small lineup. Why not just try the combo and see what happens. It cant get worse.

What's the point? "Done," according to you, at 14-5 (4-4)

Shaheen is the last guy who is going to be making excuses for a player injury. This is the same coach who complains when guys don’t practice (let alone play) because they are hurt or sore. If Shaheen said Budd is hurt, he’s hurt.
There’s a major difference between being sore and being hurt. You can not play 32 minutes if you’re hurt

So, he was able to break press on every trip except one. From my angle he was clearly moving and able to change direction. He may have been in discomfort but nothing noticeable.

He's terrible with this. We see it every game. The TV timeouts are not the same as stopping play timeouts.

The most painful part of watching him overcoach is when he slows down our offense and calls plays and the plays are ineffective then there's not enough time left to do anything else because we waited 10+ seconds to start. It's shocking to me a guy who played like he did does stuff like this. Let the players work through it, you don't need to jump in and overcoach. I wish there was a chart on possession time per trip. Yes, St. John's was way more physical with us in the second half but he goes into this stall offense.

Need to go back to the National and BE COY thread. How quickly things change. Never as good as you look during a win streak or as bad during a losing streak.
