I know the OP will catch heck for this thread, but I actually think Mike Riley could be a heck of an AD, if he wanted to. He is good at seeing the big picture, he is a good communicator, willing to remove underperforming coaches, would be a good ambassador, etc.
While it's probably unlikely for several reasons, I like the out of the box idea and think he'd be great.

Might was well just hire Doc Sadler as AD. Or we could hire someone with successful administrative experience and not a failed coach.
50K a month, when so many on here do it for free. It'll be interesting to see what happens though. Had heard Ed Stewart, but other than him I hope it isn't anyone Nebraska affiliated. Already made a mistake giving #Rimington 50K to be an idiot.
I agree with both of you. Would be great, but no way it happens here.I think he would be great too, but it's not happening.

Actually it happened to Riley's buddy, Bellotti. He was having success at Oregon but everyone wanted Chip Kelly. So, Belotti "gets fired" and promoted to AD.I'm gonna fire you and promote you at the same time......said no-one ever.

P.S. No way do I want Mike anywhere near that job. He doesn't have the best track record in hiring folks.
Who's Mike Reilly? It's an easy way to avoid more turmoil, as long as he offers the job to Frost.
Don't twist what I said. I never said we should hire him or that it is even realistic, I simply sad he would probably do well in that kind of role. Alot of former coaches with no administrative experience have.
Sort of agree with you. We don't need some big shot AD with a huge ego if we can already have the football coach we want. Might as well hire a basketball guy for AD and there'd be no point on spending a ton of money on the AD position.Let me ask this, do we even want a real AD? The AD has a choice of hiring Scott Frost or being run out of town.
Unless his name is Tom Osborne.Exactly. "Results" are important for our AD too.
Riley retired about 8 y ears ago...he just doesn't know it yet.My first reaction was 'wow, that's a great idea'. But the more I think about it, Mike's retirement is too close and it feels like we're giving him a participation ribbon. Thanks for playing.
Don’t hijack the thread. The OP is asking about Mike Reilly.No. Mike Riley won't be the AD.

Hmm, he seems like a nice guy...
Of course, I can get a hell of a good look at a T-Bone steak by sticking my head up a bull's ***, bYou can get a good look at a butcher's *** by sticking your head up there. But, wouldn't you rather to take his word for it?ut I'd rather take the butcher's word for it.
Don't forget Christian and Jason Peters. What about Brandon Riley for next AD? Or Grant Winstrom?
Well, the coaches TO hired ( if you count Solich) have gone 125-46 at NebraskaUnless his name is Tom Osborne.
And neither one of them are still there either.Actually it happened to Riley's buddy, Bellotti. He was having success at Oregon but everyone wanted Chip Kelly. So, Belotti "gets fired" and promoted to AD.
