There is no point in doing it without regime change. Trump won't put boots on the ground unless it's covert and tactical. Hopefully they will assure Khomeini is eliminated. Iran has been problematic for decades.

Read a report that the Israeli strikes were targeting their leadership while our strikes were against their high threat military targets.

Walter Cronkite was the last tv news person that I believed did his best to broadcast the actual honest news without any agenda, twisting, or other B.S.
Cronkite was no better than the ones we have now, maybe worse. He benefited from leftover credibility from an earlier era, and he used it to undermine the US. His reporting on Tet was wrong, casting it as a Communist victory when it was an across the board defeat. That was despicable.

He prolonged the war. People died due to his reporting at a time when N. Vietnam was close to collapse

June 2025 was the warning. This is regime change. We are going to decapitate the current regime by air and covert operations. And hope what rises up there will reject violence and terror. We will succeed in part 1. Part 2 is in God’s hands. Highly uncertain what comes next.

I think this is the best case estimate of what we are trying to do. These recent protest in Iran did not start entirely on their own - I have no doubt that Mossad and western intelligence agencies are in on it. I question Trump's judgement a great deal of the time, but one thing he seems to consistently get right is dealing with Iran. I would be surprised if he got us into a high troop, long term conflict. I hope Colin Powell's Pottery Barn Rule does not become the enduring legacy of this.

So… you would allow Iran to develop a nuke. Does your head hurt being that dumb. This is a serious question.
This is not about a nuke, Trump is on record last year saying we completely obliterated their nuke capabilities. This is about regime change. That is what Israel wants and we are working on their behalf. For us, I think it is about taking out another chunk of China’s oil.

Wait I thought we “totally obliterated” irans defenses last summer
All he did was take out a nuclear enrichment facility. That was the goal of that strike. They didn't take a hint and tried to start it back so now it's time to take care of it once and for all. Personally, I don't want the number one state sponsor of terrorism and a govt whose slogan is death to America to have a nuke. But that's just me.

I've seen enough to know this stuff will happen under all stripes of American leadership, so I'll move on from debating left and right.

I'm glad to see the Iranian people are going to maybe have a chance to create something worthwhile after 50+ wasted years. This is a massive country with incredible resources and it has been under the thumb of greedy violent primitives for far too long.

BTW, I found out we struck them on SixPack. We break news here, but Trump is warning lives will be lost. I just don’t see Iran as a threat to us. I do not think it is worth the risk of American soldiers laying down their lives.

Iran is a threat for sure, if they ever get a nuke it will be used. Their leaders see it as their religious purpose to provoke the apocalypse. Their religion tells them they will be the winners.

Maybe they do have nukes but it seems we use this excuse every war we get into in the Middle East and may not always be the case. I’m not informed enough to really have an opinion here, so maybe this is 100% needed…. But I sure hope we have a clear objective and a reasonable timeline to achieve that. I’m always shocked how many people seem giddy at the idea of another war.
