Going to be on the coast for the ball game and golf next week with some other couples. Where do you gents recommend for good seafood and steak places along with Italian? Not really into the fried seafood as much as grilled etc. We’ve been to Mary Mahoney’s and the Rack (?). Wanted to see what you scholars and locals might suggest?

Rack House is a good spot do a steak
Drive to Kiln and go to the Jourdan River Steamer. Best restaurant here. I get the filet topped with something every time. Gumbo, oysters, key lime pie.
The Thorny Oyster in BSL is great, Sunday brunch is the best. Probably where I go the most out of everywhere.
Best Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to recently opened in BSL - Anthony’s.

Felix's has great views. Coterie is a French Quarter restaurant with a location in Long Beach on US90. Both have fried or grilled options.

White Pillars is the best restaurant in the coast
White Pillars is great, that and the Chimneys are the two best ‘nicer’ restaurants here.
Someone mentioned Bacchus. Good food, great location. Good spot to eat outside and have a drink.
Felix’s is another good outdoor spot to drink and get good food.

Bozos or Bozos Too in Pascagoula
Tarantos in Woolmarket
Phoenicia in Ocean Springs
Government Street Grocery in Ocean Springs

All depends on the vibe that you’re looking for. There are plenty of other good places to eat.

Do you know of a restaurant in BSL where the owner had left town for many years and has just recently come home and reopened? Wife saw an article about eateries along the Amtrak Mardi Gras line, we can't find it. TIA.

Bacchus in Ocean Springs is a great spot on the Bay
Half Shell in Biloxi is close to stadium and good oysters.
I have very limited knowledge of Coast restaurants.

I’m not sure. Anthony’s is the newest one I can think of but it’s a local restauranteurs son. Rickey’s recently reopened in Waveland. It was a pre-Katrina restaurant.

We tried catch 110 over Christmas. It replaced Sal & Mookies. I really enjoyed it. They had some sticky ribs that were really good. Also have all the obligatory seafood.

Desi Vegas Steakhouse just opened up in Ocean Springs. My bar for steak restaurants is to always compare them to Shapley’s and Kessler Prime. Desi Vegas was the best steak I’ve had in a long time other than those two.

Haven’t been out to eat in that area lately, but The Sicilian II in Biloxi is good for Italian. Not specifically Italian, but Fields in Bay St Louis makes their own pasta and the only time I had it it was fantastic. There is a fields Italian in ocean springs that I haven’t been to but would definitely try based on the pasta I had at fields in bay St. Louis. I Haven’t been there but Stalla in beau rivage is supposed to be good Italian too. The Beau’s steakhouse BR Prime is also good.

Really most of the high end restaurants at the casinos are good. I wouldn’t necessarily pick them on my own dime, but 32 at IP, Morton’s at the Nugget, mignons at the palace, and Ruth’s Chris are all good to very good.

Phonecia in ocean springs was always good at pretty much every thing they do. I’d do seafood but I’ve had steak there and it’s good too.

Chimneys in Gulfport is good for seafood or steak but I’d go seafood.

Mary Mahoneys is close to the stadium and good. If the mislabeling fish in the past bothers you, you’re going to be pretty limited by your choices of restaurants most places. If you want to know you’re getting what you order now, I would assume Mary Mahoneys is pretty accurate because a $1M fine is a good incentive to toe the line going forward.

white pillars is great. Not necessarily for what you’re asking.

if you want something close to the stadium, the fillin station is a cool place, probably slammed anywhere near game time. Halfshell is also solid. Probably a better bet for food but Probably also slammed. McElroy still has its fans. I’ve only eaten there once and it was fine. The Catch 110 place is I think affiliated with half shell and rackhouse so I’d be surprised if it’s not at least solid.

I know you didn’t mention breakfast but since Billups closed we went to Stacked in the Palace casino. For breakfast food it was awesome with huge portions and a good variety.

Just looked at the crawfish house menu and at first glance it appears to be way overpriced and that’s even with the cash discount. Their fried fish platter has a fish name I’ve never even heard of and it’s from Vietnam!
Here’s a restaurant on the MS gulf coast and they’re buying 17-ing fish from Vietnam ??
I think I’ll pass on wasting my time and money on this place.
