Going to be on the coast for the ball game and golf next week with some other couples. Where do you gents recommend for good seafood and steak places along with Italian? Not really into the fried seafood as much as grilled etc. We’ve been to Mary Mahoney’s and the Rack (?). Wanted to see what you scholars and locals might suggest?
Haven’t been out to eat in that area lately, but The Sicilian II in Biloxi is good for Italian. Not specifically Italian, but Fields in Bay St Louis makes their own pasta and the only time I had it it was fantastic. There is a fields Italian in ocean springs that I haven’t been to but would definitely try based on the pasta I had at fields in bay St. Louis. I Haven’t been there but Stalla in beau rivage is supposed to be good Italian too. The Beau’s steakhouse BR Prime is also good.
Really most of the high end restaurants at the casinos are good. I wouldn’t necessarily pick them on my own dime, but 32 at IP, Morton’s at the Nugget, mignons at the palace, and Ruth’s Chris are all good to very good.
Phonecia in ocean springs was always good at pretty much every thing they do. I’d do seafood but I’ve had steak there and it’s good too.
Chimneys in Gulfport is good for seafood or steak but I’d go seafood.
Mary Mahoneys is close to the stadium and good. If the mislabeling fish in the past bothers you, you’re going to be pretty limited by your choices of restaurants most places. If you want to know you’re getting what you order now, I would assume Mary Mahoneys is pretty accurate because a $1M fine is a good incentive to toe the line going forward.
white pillars is great. Not necessarily for what you’re asking.
if you want something close to the stadium, the fillin station is a cool place, probably slammed anywhere near game time. Halfshell is also solid. Probably a better bet for food but Probably also slammed. McElroy still has its fans. I’ve only eaten there once and it was fine. The Catch 110 place is I think affiliated with half shell and rackhouse so I’d be surprised if it’s not at least solid.
