Shaheen plays at a snails pace so that won’t be a concern.
That may be a function of the talent at least here.
- Dawes was a turnover machine when he pushed it.
- Richmond was a deliberate ball handler.
- Dual was just bad so slowing it down was probably a good thing.

I'd argue that all of the players mentioned were solid contributors as freshman.

Eddie Griffin averaged a double-double. Whitehead averaged double digit points per game.

The point is valid but the examples don't prove the point IMHO.
They contributed individually but their teams were not good.

But there aren’t any good 3-point shooters other than Dar.
True. Probably going to be the biggest weakness of this team unless some shooting develops.

We have seen the player at the 4 for Shaheen be left alone on the perimeter quite a bit. Teams use their 4 for help defense against us and sag off. They dared Aligbe to shoot and he was brutal. Dre became a solid shooter with his 2 years at SH well above his career averages. And of course Ndefo was left alone and was brutal from 3. Is there anyone who can benefit from getting some open looks and become more efficient?

You mentioned Dar and he has potential to be a strong 3-pt shooter, especially if they leave him wide open. Hit 31 of 75 in AAC Conference Games which is 41.2% on 4.2 attempts per game. That is promising.

Rivera and Fisher would likely be the other candidates to play the 4. They've both been poor shooters from 3. Not Ndefo or Aligbe-level bad but both are around 29% career shooters. Could one or both benefit and show improvement like Dre did? I have no idea.

Other than that, I think McCrary could be solid. And hopefully some of the younger guards like Clark, Simpkins, Parker and Felton can develop and improve their shooting.

This is true. But the original point was freshmen can't be counted on to contribute. There are dozens of better examples.
Not really. I probably should have written it better, but that's really what I was trying to say.

Knowledge of the game, and development (taking better shots, involving teammates, playing defense) after playing on AAU circuits their whole lives is a big change.

Great Freshman very rarely make their TEAMS better. Usually takes a year or so.

My examples were correct. The Rutgers example especially is perfect. 2 Freshmen who were top 5 NBA draft picks on a team that doesn't get to the tournament is not as crazy as it sounds.

To be fair to those two guys, they were surrounded by Ivy- and MAAC-level talent. The dropoff after Bailey and Harper was just astonishing.

I thought he was a bit lax and slow running up and down court in the video posted. He needs to speed it up a bit to fit into Shas up tempo game plan otherwise he will be left in the dust. Godswill run the court much faster.
Take five minutes off from the Eore act and enjoy a rare piece of good news, for pete's sake. You're well into your back nine, stop being so miserable.

And to compound matters, none of our new guards shoot the 3 well. This is going to hurt us for sure. Any opponent who can play zone would be wise to use it against us to combat the slashing to the hoop that Sha loves to see.
