Frustrating. Our defense has kept them from getting a lot of good looks and refs started calling it a lot closer in the final 3-4 minutes in favor of Gonzaga. Yet our boys have missed several great looks. Watkins can't buy a bucket.

I said before the game that if we cant shoot, we have no chance. Well, we cant shoot and are tied. They are playing so hard, have never been more proud of this team.

So you're saying WVU should continue to shoot poorly?

Crucial juncture coming up. If we don't quickly get this game back to around 4-5 points this will get away from us fast

So lucky to still be in this with how poorly we are shooting. At same time it's frustrating because making just 1/3 or the wide open looks we've missed would be a double digit lead.

WVU has shot poorly and that is killing them but this is one of the worst officiated games I've ever seen.

What a wasted opportunity we'll never land in a bracket without a team like UNC or Kentucky in it ever again

Story is wasted opportunities. We gave this game to Gonzaga by missing all the open looks we had or by screwing up easy baskets with travels, dribbling off the foot, etc. Crucial missteps at the end with 2 missed free throws. An easy put back for Adrian if he goes up strong, but instead finesse gets it blocked. We blew more good scoring opportunities than they did. Defense was great.

Young men got scared in big moments. It happens.

The guys that played well enough to win are all back next year. We are so close. Next year.

Quit blaming the refs.

We took 16 more shots than Gonzaga. When you do that, you should every time. We have no excuses.

Exactly. I really hate the blame the ref game, it's the rally cry of losers.

Truth is, we shot 27% to their 41% and the turnover/rebound difference wasn't big enough to make up that gap...it was close given the shot difference but still a tad short of a enough to win. We shoot 3% better at 30% and we win by 2. This team lives and dies by the press and turnover...the thought is simple. We'll shoot a lower percentage than you but we're going to take 15-25% more shots due to turnover and rebounding. As a whole it works, sometimes the delta is not quite what you need it to be to get the W. Such was the case last night.

It's still a great season that exceeded the expectations I had for this them coming into the year. Of course when you get to the round of 16 you need to start thinking bigger and hope begins to soar.

What a great group of young men. I wish the seniors nothing but success in their future. You've made your coach, the university, the state and all Mountaineer fans proud.
