All the facts? We dont know any of the facts. Which of course is why we have rampant speculation and rumors. I get we arent owed anything by Kraft but the silence also allows for all of this.

The point is that alot of folks on this board are speculating and making assumptions without knowing what really happened. I'm sure we'd all like to know what is going on. All evidence points to Kraft screwing the pooch. But whether there really was a deal with Sitake or Chesney was held in check is just heresay.

This all seems plausible and fits. What is crazy is that Kraft didn't get an official/signed/final deal with Sitake before this past weekend. That is malfeasance enough that if Sitake refused to finalize before this week, you have to move on to another candidate. You literally do not let this past Sunday come without a person 100% signed and delivered. Better to take a "weaker" candidate that is confirmed than someone still up in the air.
It can't be true because it doesn't fit Lando's scenario.

How many big time college football coach agents do you know?
You really going to go there? As a lawyer I have dealt with agents; not football ones of course. However, I never met one who told a client to not sign a deal because the agent was pissed with the way someone treated another of his clients. Easily the most asinine and naive post of the day.

As an alum, you better believe Penn State owes me an explanation, especially if the university wants me to ever donate to them again…something I haven’t done in over a decade.

I doubt he does for his own personal reasons but anyone taking this job now is walking into a dumpster fire, a huge detriment to hiring anyone at this point.

The Penn State situation isn't great thanks to the recruiting class situation, but it's not nearly as terrible as people are suggesting. The portal with some money - which PSU has - can overcome a bunch of deficiencies. It's absolutely true that the position was far more appealing a week ago and PSU could have been more "choosey" at that point, but it isn't so bad that we shouldn't be able to get a competent coach who is hungry to prove what he can do. If a coach has aspirations to get to the "next level" of National Championship caliber, PSU is certainly a great opportunity.

Good on you Counselor. I've met a lot of professional golfers over the years. Just not many agents.

I know nothing about being an athletic director. But the maddening thing is I have zero doubt that if you gave me 52 days and millions of dollars to offer I could have had a coach in place a couple of weeks ago. Maybe it wouldn’t have worked out in the long run but I would have hired a decent guy.
BINGO.

Unless it’s DeBorr, he failed
My son graduated from Alabama, and I have definitive proof it’s not DeBoer. Wanna’ know what it is?

His friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl heard that it’s not him.

That should suffice here.

But we don’t. How do we know Kraft didn’t hire a coach weeks ago and is waiting to announce it? We don’t.

Once again, I feel compelled to say that I am in no way defending him or agree with how this process is progressing.

All I’m saying is we don’t yet know all the facts.
Oh let me correct myself: Kraft didn’t hire a coach and publicly announce it before signing day. Given that several coaches whose teams are in the playoffs (Kiffin,Stein and Hartline) have been announced as the new coaches at other schools IF Kraft actually hired a coach whose team is in the playoffs why is he the only one who hasn’t announced who the coach is?

Just had a "conversation" with an AI chatbot, where I asked who Penn State football should hire as the next head coach. After giving me a laundry list of all the names that have been out there, and after I had to keep prompting it about several of the names on its lists are no longer available, it finally concluded with this:

From current reporting and coaching-market dynamics, a few of the most viable remaining directions for Penn State now are:
  • Brian Daboll — NFL pedigree, could attract recruits wanting pro-pathway prep; a bold—but risky—reset hire.
  • Manny Diaz — defensive-minded, known quantity, might bring stability and help re-establish culture without high expectations of immediate national-title contention.
  • An internal or “bridge” hire (e.g. promoting an interim or existing staffer) — trade-offs include less flash, but lower disruption and possibly smoother continuity while PSU rebuilds.
Now, how much more sophisticated is the search going in the athletic director's office?

I think my money is now on Daboll.

That wouldn't be a bad hire. Should be able to develop young QBs and put together a pretty good staff. And (drum roll!) he's currently available.
Dabol if I had to bet to win , Smith to place, the field to show .

I think that is almost certainly true, but (if so) it should have become evident weeks ago and he should have had plenty of time to pivot to a more realistic candidate and get everything squared away. Its great if he tried to get Meyer or Freeman or DeBoer but if you learn that isn't happening then you move on to what you can do.

I'm sure that, for example, Florida came to a similar conclusion about who they could draw in and so they went with Sumrall rather than do something idiotic like go into signing day without naming a coach.
👍👍👍

It’s going to be so ridiculous when Kraft, if he’s still at PSU, introduces the new coach, if he actually hires someone. It will amount to, “I am very pleased to announce my 67th choice for the next head coach at Penn State…”

😞
Kraft has been f more than Bonnie Blue .

OMG (no, I’m not 12) but I just did the exact same thing! All it did was confirm to me the shortcomings of AI.

I don’t buy the notion that Franklin called Sitake and trashed Penn State. Any severance agreement includes a non-disparagement clause and it works both ways. The guy in the video claims that it is a “fact” he did this. If so, Penn State could easily claim millions in damage against Franklin.

I would not doubt that Franklin is doing this stuff through intermediary, but there is no way he is having direct conversation conversations with anyone that would be traceable and could get him in a legal bind. Zero chance.
Yeah there appears to be no end to the stupid excuses the Kraft apologists make up.

I think we’re all at a total loss as to what Kraft has been doing. And that is the problem! We, as humans, want answers and without any official statements from Penn State will seek them out and fill in the narrative with whatever meets our own biases and perceptions. Over time, it becomes our reality, regardless of how wrong we might have been.

We do know that he fanned on a layup hire in Chesney - losing him to UCLA via his handling of Chesney's and Sitake's simultaneous candidacy. He literally told Chesney that PSU had considered him and was not interested in his services (Kraft did this because he had shaken Sitake's hand on "loose terms" of mutual interest and with no written agreement between himself and Sitake!). We know plenty enough to understand what a complete incompetent tool Kraft is.

Franklin happened to Chesney and every other person known to be interested in the Job. Word is Franklin had direct conversations with most of them lamenting Kraft and the entire hierarchy at PS. Lamenting in it's context here is a polite term to how those conversations went.
I hope you are being sarcastic; otherwise I need to put on my bleep kicking shoes.

Given that it has been over a decade, I'd say they don't owe you jackshit. They will get real donations elsewhere from real donors.

Your paltry "donations" (if they ever existed) were noise level and are not worth expending any effort.

You have a choice - either deal with it or walk away.

Or the agent trashes PSU and convinces his client why we're huge pricks etc etc. Like lawyers have never sold people out, let alone agents.
I have practised law since 1978; I know no lawyers who sell their clients out. I know some who don’t play by the rules to benefit their clients but none who sell their clients out. Stop making excuses for Kraft.

Define "new". I frequented the McAndrew board when it was part of plotit back in 1993. So I would guess that I was probably one of the first posters back when Tom started. But when the test board got removed and BWI sold, I stopped frequenting it. I just re-joined under a new name a few days ago because my old password wasn't working and my old email account used to reset has gone by the wayside. So I haven't made a mental note of the inclinations of certain posters and I am unaware of your reputation.

So with that in mind, I don't disagree with that Kraft has dropped the ball. I just see some folks are Franklin-apologists and I was curious which camp you were in.
My apologies. I am not a Franklin apologist. My issue isn’t with his firing, but Kraft’s ineptitude.

First - Why the personal insults? You have no clue who I am or how much money I’ve donated to PSU over the past several decades.

Second - My point, which I guess escaped your comprehension*, is that if I feel this way, so, too, do tens of thousands of other alums who also might not donate.

*Comprehension is the action or capability of understanding something.

The program sinks further with every passing day because the portal opening in less than a month isn't just about WHEN it opens: Like Landon Tengwall said "these kids know where they are going well before the portal opens and if you can't get a coach in place soon it will be too late with a few weeks left before it opens. Their already gone". What an incredible fantastic failure by this incompetent fool. Neeli must take this out of his hands RIGHT NOW

I’ve just heard from an insider (can’t reveal my source) that Pat Kraft is also conducting the search for treasure of Oak Island.
I think it used to be Oak Islands, but the middle was filled in and called the swamp. I haven't watched in years. Can't say I've missed much news or it would have been news. I guess.

Campbell, then possibly Diaz - the defense would improve. Both have staff and recruits they might bring along. No to Daboll. Campbell makes 5 mil a year and is extended through 2032. But only a 2 mil buy out. Campbell grew up in Ohio and also coached at Toledo for 5 years before going to Iowa State. So he is familiar with the recruiting area. Plus he can still play rival Iowa if he comes here....he beat them this year.

Pat Kraft should be fired Today for the way the coaching hiring and 2026 class ended up, No excuses. How can you be this incompetent? If Terry Smith is not hired half the team will be in the portal come Jan.
