Lea is also doing it with a heisman-caliber QB transfer that was developed at another school. I agree with the above poster that the sample is too small yet on Lea. Let's see how he does next year without Pavia.

Brohm
Key
Hartline
^This is where my heads at right now. I could get behind any of those hires.

That's if Elko is truly off the table. And did anything ever come of the Brady speculation?
Joe Brady may get fired up in Buffalo. Offense is broken up there.

I don't know if you're being serious, but I think that he's the best player in the NFL right now. If he didn't play on that team, the Bills would be at the Jets' level.
I agree wholeheartedly regarding Josh Allen. The problem with the bills is that Joe Brady cannot scheme his WR’s to get open and he only runs a set number of base plays, some being too gimmicky. It is very similar to AK and PSU. There are many calling for Brady and the HC to be fired. Brady is a hard hell no for PSU!

I see the rumors are flying about Lincoln Riley leaving USC. This guy wins and produces some well coached talent.

What do you guys think about him? We would have load up an armored car and dump a ton of cash at his feet.

Hard pass. Not sure what he brings versus Franklin. He has not succeeded with the resources at USC.

Not since 2020 and that Michigan team had mailed it in. Face it, Franklin was poor versus the two best teams in the conference and that is how he generated his pathetic record vs top 5 and 10 teams.
And every other coach was poor versus those two teams.

I agree with your 1 and 2 but would sub Diaz for Hartline. They each have the capability of hitting 9-11 wins most years, like Franklin. They are insurance for filling the renovated stadium but not necessarily guarantees to become elite. Not sure we can afford to go high risk high potential reward with a Hartline, Chesney or Golesh. Guys like Chesney are much more likely to perform like Mike Rhoades than Cignetti.
The love affair with Diaz is puzzling. He has been unable to achieve such success in the weaker ACC either with Duke or Miami

I don’t know if it will be Drinkwitz. However, he did beat OSU in a bowl game, and has shown the ability to recruit really good offensive skill players; two seasons ago and this season, he’s had one of the best running backs in the country, and last season, he had one of the best wide receivers in the country. Also, he’s at least built Mizzou into a very representative SEC team; I think that we all know that it’s unlikely that Mizzou ever is going to surpass Bama, UGA, Texas, OU, LSU, Tennessee and TAM on a regular basis. Finally, he must have done something right to come into Southeastern PA and get a star high school qb.
The win over deserves an asterisk. No starting qb no Marvin Harrison and no second string qb most of game.

But we still beat them….not like the run we had against OSU. Of course we should be used to losing to Michigan.
I’ll never get used to the teams I root for losing to anyone.
Like Cig said Saturday, his team has never lost in State College.

No need to panic just yet. You don't want a coach who is available right now. There's usually a reason that unemployed people are unemployed.

Signing Day is the second Wed. in February. There's still a little time to go.

Meh. I’m sorry but I don’t see why you fire Franklin and pay him $50 million then spend a fortune on a guy like Riley who has never taken a team further than Franklin did? Good offensive coach, mediocre defenses. He’s had plenty of talent and resources at USC and OK too. His teams have looked pretty average since joining the B1G.

OK, but how about some urgency ?
Class is nearing oblivion.
Nobody gave this some thought?
The head coach will not be announced until after the regular season is done. In fact, depending on the target, we may not sign a head coach until playoffs done, that’s a bit too risky for me, but that’s a reality. We’re hoping to hear bits and pieces of who Kraft is interviewing, but realistically that is about all we can hope to learn. The reality is that we can miss on the recruiting class and hit big on the portal class in this era and be OK for next year.

I wish to change my vote to Terry Smith!
If he beat Indiana, I would vote for Smith. There is no doubt that he has rallied the troops and has extracted more out of these guys than Franklin did. His mistake is that he did not force AK to throw the ball in the first half of that Indy game.

I think the week of Dec 1 would be the time period if we are signing a non-playoff team hc. Tengwell‘s latest video indicates we should hear real rumors about the actual candidates during the Rutgers week.

The thing with Riley is that he has a super offensive mind and clueless when it comes to defense. I don't think I want him at PSU especially for the money he would demand

Not that we would know but that their decision would be solidified.

It's not so much his being clueless about defense. It is the fact that his program(s) display a distinct culture of offense. Recruiting, attention to detail, likely NIL funds and the line are directed at the offense. D'anton Lynn should get the hell out of there while his reputation is intact

Get Chesney and be done with it. 3 reasons:
1) He’s young and aggressive.
2) He’s WON everywhere he was at.
3) And most importantly, he’s from Mount Carmel/ Shamokin (the Coal Region for you common folk). These people tend to be tough as nails. The “let’s hug it out” stuff would become extinct. We would see hard nose football instead of gloried flag football.
He would be a great fit.

Are there any coal region coaches that have been successful and won championships at the collegiate level? Like national championships

I've been on board with Chesney for a while now. A careful look at what he has done since Cignetti took the best JMU players (via portal) to Indiana shows a coach that was able to successfully adapt and overcome. Additionally he already has high school contacts in PSU's primary recruiting zone - DMV and PA. The large boost in NIL availability will help him with portal acquisitions. There could still be a few players on the JMU roster that can make the jump to P4 level.
I do hope Kraft has reached out if Brohm and Key are saying NO.

No argument here. If they aren't going with a power 4 coach, which I think they will, I would have a coaching crush on Chesney or Golesh.
