Currently, Penn State looks like a guy who is a 6, at best ... who is somehow married to a pretty good-looking, smart woman with some flaws. Meanwhile, he's constantly telling his buddies he deserves a 10. He points to the chick he dated back in high school, who was a smoke show.

So, he divorces this woman, she quickly gets remarried to a decent guy, and we're at the bar every night trying to pick up women, and they're all shooting us down ... even the ugly and/or dumb ones want nothing to do with us. We're scrambling at last call every night, and they're all using our creepy attempts to pick them up to be saved by another guy swooping in to save them.

Congrats, guys ... you deserve better this.
Well said.

What is crazy is that there is no huge JoePa coaching tree. You look at coaches with ties to schools like OSU, UMich, even Pitt and they rival those who were associated with PennState…and it doesn’t even seem close.

Did we really want Hartline? He doesn't seem to be a cultural fit at PSU with the DWI's and do we want a guy with all those tats representing the school?

I’ve read a couple of times that Hartline interviewed with PSU and it did not go well, whatever that means. It could be true or it could be interwebby horse-a$$.

If that's real, you have to admit it was pretty good. Of course I'm not beyond a childish prank myself.

LOL so if Hartline interviewed with PSU and USF ..so either Kraft or Hartline said no. Question if Hartline said no and said yes to USF something is very wrong here and by the way this puts to bed 'about any coaches waiting for playoffs to finish' before they announce
Actually LSU did that first when they hired Kiffin but don’t tell Lando.

Totally understand that, my only point on the timing was not knowing if there was some other factor(s) that forced the decision. Not defending Kraft or the process, just wondering if there were other internal factors that forced the decision to happen when it did, but at this point its irrelevant either way.
Could be as simple as over promising and under delivering. Its a situation of his own making.
This tells me he was never a serious consideration for better programs.
You mean Programs that canned their coaches that they themselves vetted at one time or another as being the guy to hire?? sounds to me like the issue is the AD's not being able to assess who they hire, properly

Its like Tomlin and the Steelers. Both organizations are run like crap right now.

I think its evident that Penn State isn't a destination job right now. Not even close to the big boys. The mess needs cleaned up.

Well if something forced the timing, he had plenty of time to optimize his plan

you are missing one thing. you are assuming Kraft had a plan or at least logically should have had one. If Kraft is just incompetent well ... if its a duck
be careful, Ive been klilled on this board for saying kraft was a dope for not having a plan.

I am a Kentucky fan, and more so a college football fan. Why you havent went 100% after Brohm yet is crazy. The dude can flat out coach. He got caught off guard this year with injuries everywhere and a QB that didnt work out great from portal, but the dude can coach and gets the most out of his players.

The only thing that possible makes sense is that the person has agreed to take the job but is in the CFP and wants to wait until that concludes - or Kraft f'ed this up to holy hell and there is zero interest in this job but with the money they have that makes no sense.

Because our AD appears, barring a miracle to be grossly incompetent.

dually noted. If this is a plan, then I guess I'm living in Bizzarro-world,

Why haven't we gone after Brohm??? Because Pat Kraft has no clue.

This Penn State head coach hiring saga sounds like a Netflix series title - “No One Wants This.”

I agree. The odds of Kraft being this incompetent are so slim that I have to believe there is somebody on board.

Uh.... how many P4 coaching jobs are currently open?

(I'll save you the time: 2 - PSU and Cal)

Getting a first HC gig at USF is a wonderful opportunity (and a tremendous endorsement) for an aspiring HC.
Hartline was certainly far more "in demand" than any HC PSU is going to end up with.

I think that if a person had "agreed to take this job", Kraft wouldn't be looking at Sitake or anyone else. If you already have your man, there is no need to look elsewhere.

There is nobody. Are you guys late to this party?

I can't believe Kraft ever thought he had a shot at any of these guys playing into December. The amount of time wasted on Elko, Deboer, and Sitake is absolutely mind blowing.

I was never in the Chesney camp, but I'd double UCLA's offer and end this shitshow now.

I mean, if you say so. Why didn't get get Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, UCLA, etc.? Those were open at one point too. Our points are not mutually exclusive.

That's my hope. So all the Sitake mess was media conjecture?
That's the real question....if Kraft already has a backroom deal in place with his pick, then the Sitake was all media smoke? I dunno, I hope I'm wrong but I'll gladly eat crow if Kalen Deboer comes waltzing through the door. I don't think so, however.

It's hard to know. Maybe someone will write a book someday and put it all out there

Thought I heard that Kraft and Sitake had a handshake agreement before news got out and the Army of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and Cookieman made him reconsider.
